What is the NGO Fellowship Program?

The NGO Fellowship Program is organized by Taiwan AID and aims to provide opportunities for NGO professionals to gain first-hand experience in the Taiwanese NGO sector. Each participant will be placed at different Taiwanese NGOs for 3 weeks, and join the workshops, site visits and roundtable events.

  • Duration: Oct 04 – Nov 01, 2026 (Fully on-site participation required)
  • Location: Taiwan
  • Participants: 12 NGO professionals (Tentative)
  • Application Deadline: June 1, 2026

Benefits & Experience

Travel Expenses. Round-trip airfare, accommodations, and local transportation during your stay in Taiwan are fully covered.

Shared Accommodation. Fellows will stay in dormitory rooms in Taipei. During the placement period, some fellows may be placed in other cities.

Daily Per Diem. Fellows will receive per diem during the three-week placement.

NGO Placement. Taiwan AID will match you with a suitable host Taiwanese NGO based on your background before you set off to Taiwan.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Work experience: At least 3 years in the NGO sector
  2. Age: 25 to 40 years old

Country of Origin:

  • Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
  • South Asia: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Pakistan
  • Northeast Asia: Japan, South Korea, Mongolia
  • Pacific Islands: Palau, Marshall Islands, Tuvalu

Note: Eligibility criteria such as age, years of experience, and professional fields are not the sole determinant. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply.

How to Apply?

Application Requirements:

  1. CV & Headshot
  2. Personal Statement. One page including the purpose of attending the program, expectations, and a personal career plan.
  3. Two Recommendation Letters. Letters should focus on your personality, creativity, leadership, and other relevant qualities. Suggested issuers: your supervisor/colleagues, or anyone who knows you well personally. No preferred format.

Preparation Period / Timeline

  1. April – June 1, 2026. Event announcement & Application period. Deadline: June 1st, 23:59 (TST, GMT+8).
  2. June – July 2026. Document Review & Interviews. Shortlisted candidates contacted via email. Interview selections held in mid-July.
  3. Mid-August 2026. Final Results & Host Matching. Official announcement of selected fellows and finalization of host NGOs.
  4. September 2026. Visa Arrangement & Final Preparation. Taiwan AID will assist with visa applications and logistics.

Note: Applicants not proceeding to the next stage will not be individually informed.

Fellowship Period Schedule

  • Oct. 04 – Arrival in Taipei. Check-in at dormitory and preparation.
  • Oct. 05 – Oct. 08 – Workshops, Site Visits, Roundtable Discussions
  • Oct. 12 – Oct. 29 – NGO Placement. 3-week engagement in daily operations at a matched NGO.
  • Oct. 30 – Wrap-up Session. Sharing experiences, observations, and reflections.
  • Nov. 1 – Departure. End of program and Taipei departure.

Important Notices

Additional Participants. To ensure full focus on the program, support is not provided for family members or companions (visa, lodging, or per diem).

Passport Validity. A valid passport is required. If selected but unable to provide a copy in time, the offer may be withdrawn.
