Call for Applications & Terms of Reference

Nationality for All (NFA) is pleased to invite applications for the SEAP Fellows 2026 Programme, a three-month full-time fellowship for early-career human rights professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region. The fellowship forms part of NFA's ongoing work on the Statelessness Encyclopedia Asia Pacific (SEAP), one of the region's leading knowledge resources documenting statelessness, nationality rights, legal identity systems, and exclusion across Asia-Pacific. NFA will select two full-time Fellows to support the updating and strengthening of the Second Edition of SEAP, particularly covering Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Central Asia. The sub-regions will be divided between the two Fellows.

About SEAP

The Statelessness Encyclopedia Asia Pacific (SEAP) is a regional research and knowledge initiative documenting statelessness, nationality laws, legal identity systems, and exclusion across the Asia-Pacific region. SEAP brings together country-level research, legal analysis, policy developments, and regional trends to strengthen understanding of how citizenship, documentation, and legal identity impact affected populations. The project aims to support advocacy, research, and policy reform by making accessible and credible information available to civil society, researchers, policymakers, and affected communities across the region.

Fellowship Details

Duration: June 15 – September 11, 2026
Format: Full-time remote fellowship
Number of Fellows: 2
Stipend: AUD 200–400 per month (depending on Fellow location)
Eligibility: Open to applicants across the Asia-Pacific region

Priority Consideration: Applicants with lived experience of statelessness are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given preference in the selection process.

Key Responsibilities

Factcheck and review existing SEAP country factsheets
Conduct supplementary desk research and verification
Update SEAP website content and report materials
Add and verify citations across the SEAP website
Coordinate with the NFA research team on updates and revisions
Maintain accuracy, consistency, and source integrity across outputs

Timeline of Work

Month 1 – Onboarding & Factchecking Orientation and training sessions on factchecking methodology, citation systems, and website updating processes. Fellows will begin factchecking and conducting additional desk research on assigned sub-regions.

Month 2 – Website & Report Updates Updating SEAP website content, revising report materials, and coordinating edits and consistency checks with the NFA team.

Month 3 – Citation Updates Adding and verifying citations across the SEAP website and conducting final accuracy and consistency reviews.

Training & Support

Selected Fellows will receive:

A detailed factchecking guide and template
Training on research methodology, citation standards, and website updating systems
Ongoing mentorship and support from the NFA research team

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should demonstrate:

Strong desk research and writing skills
Attention to detail and analytical ability
Ability to work independently in a remote setting
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Background knowledge in human rights, law, public policy, international relations, or related fields

Knowledge of citizenship rights, statelessness, and legal identity systems is highly desirable. Prior experience in research, human rights initiatives, or non-profit work is preferred, but not mandatory.
