This online instructor-led training will increase your knowledge on resilience and climate change adaptation and help you develop the skills required to put adaptation into practice at community level.

The Learning Journey will run from 30 September 2024 to 2 February 2025.

Who can enroll?

We aim to make the CARE Climate and Resilience Academy as inclusive as possible. This training is open to development and humanitarian practitioners from all types of organizations or institutions who would like to be better equipped to integrate adaptation in their projects, programs or policies. Applicants should however:

  • Have a basic knowledge of climate change.
  • Be able to commit the equivalent of 2 days a month for the course duration, and be willing and able to be an active participant and complete group and individual assignments on time.
  • Have a good understanding of/be able to communicate in English.
  • Have access to reliable enough internet in order to complete the course. 


What is the course format?

This 16-week e-learning training consists of eight live classroom lessons with your fellow participants, led by climate adaptation experts and blended with other learning resources: videos, quizzes, podcasts, key readings or online courses.

Throughout each module, you will have the opportunity to put into practice what you have learned through either an individual or group assignment. Group assignments present an excellent chance to broaden your network, gain different perspectives, and learn collectively. You will be placed in a group with 5 to 6 members who are in a similar time zone to facilitate coordination. It is your responsibility to actively communicate and coordinate with your group members in order to ensure smooth collaboration and timely submission.

By the end of the training, you will:

  1. Be able to explain and apply the concepts that frame climate change adaptation.
  2. Be able to know when to apply CARE’s main climate change adaptation approaches and tools.
  3. Be able to improve the integration of climate change adaptation into your projects and programs for better sustainability and results.

Will I get a certificate?

Upon completion of the Learning Journey, you will have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion if you meet the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of 80% of the required assignments and quizzes.
  • Gathered at least 80% of the total points available during the training.
  • Attendance of at least half of the live webinars.


How much does it cost?

For this 16-week long online course, the price is as follows:

  • CARE staff: €650
  • External organizations staff: €950

Would you like to enroll as a group of five or more from the same organization?

  • Receive a 5% discount when more than 5 participants from the same organization enroll in the Learning Journey. To ensure fair opportunities for all interested participants to participate in the Learning Journey, we will review enrollments of more than 10 participants from the same organization on a case-by-case basis. For larger groups, please contact us to discuss potential arrangements.

Are you a working for a local government or civil society organization in the Global South?

  • We offer a 20% discount on the CARE staff fee on all Learning Journeys for participants from local governments or civil society organizations in the Global South. The fee will be €520. This discount is not available to organizations that are part of global confederations or INGOs. If this applies to you, please contact Nadia Rinaldi at climateandresilience-academy@carenederland.org with documentation to receive the specific payment link.

What are the payment options?

After you express your interest via the registration form, our team will contact you. There are two payment options for this Learning Journey:

  • Online payments: This payment can be made on our website using a debit/credit card. A link will be added soon.
  • Invoice: If your office or organization is paying for your participation and prefers to receive an invoice, please let us know right away. We will then prepare the invoice for your enrollment, and your office/organization will have to pay via bank transfer. Please provide us with the name of the billed organization and the address of your organization. We kindly ask you to secure the needed approvals from your supervisor, HR, or finance department if you choose this method.
