Role Overview

The ESG Manager will lead Alba Renewables’ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) function, ensuring compliance with international standards and strengthening the company’s sustainability performance. This role is central to integrating ESG into business operations, managing stakeholder and investor relations, and ensuring that project development, particularly solar, wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, meets best practice benchmarks such as the IFC Performance Standards.

The ESG Manager will act as a trusted advisor to management and investors, and a partner to the Business Development, Engineering, Construction, HR, and Legal teams in embedding ESG across Alba’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. ESG Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Alba Renewables’ ESG strategy aligned with corporate goals and investor expectations.
  • Lead the integration of ESG considerations into business operations, policies, and project development.
  • Drive ESG awareness and build organizational capacity through training and engagement programs.

2. Environmental & Social Performance

  • Ensure compliance with IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and international best practices in all projects.
  • Oversee environmental and social impact assessments (ESIAs), audits, and monitoring plans.
  • Lead stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and grievance mechanisms for communities and affected parties.
  • Ensure effective implementation of social safeguards, labor standards, and community development initiatives.

3. Project Support (Solar, Wind & BESS)

  • Provide ESG leadership for renewable energy projects from early-stage development through construction and operation.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Engineering teams to integrate ESG risk assessments and mitigation measures into project planning.
  • Review consultant deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with international standards.
  • Proactively identify and address ESG risks that may impact permitting, financing, or long-term project viability.

4. Governance, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Establish ESG policies, controls, and reporting systems across the organization.
  • Prepare accurate, timely ESG reports for internal and external stakeholders (e.g., investors, lenders, regulators).
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor ESG performance across projects and corporate operations.
  • Support transparency and ensure Alba’s compliance with relevant environmental and social regulations in operating countries.

5. Investor Relations

  • Act as the primary ESG liaison with investors, lenders, and rating agencies.
  • Respond to ESG-related investor queries, disclosures, and due diligence requirements.
  • Present Alba’s ESG performance and progress through investor meetings, quarterly reports, and board updates.
  • Enhance Alba’s ESG profile, ratings, and sustainability reputation in the market.

6. Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor emerging ESG trends, renewable energy regulations, and sustainability benchmarks.
  • Recommend innovative ESG practices and technologies to strengthen Alba’s leadership in responsible renewable development.
  • Benchmark Alba’s ESG performance against peer companies and global standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Social Development, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of ESG, sustainability, or E&S management experience (with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity).
  • Proven experience applying IFC Performance Standards and international ESG frameworks in project development.
  • Hands-on ESG management in renewable energy projects (solar, wind and BESS) from development through operations.
  • Strong background in stakeholder engagement, social safeguards, and grievance management.
  • Experience in investor relations, ESG disclosures, and sustainability reporting.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of environmental and social risk management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the Philippines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate ESG concepts into actionable business value.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, with ability to synthesize complex ESG data.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
