➔ Description of the mission

We are now seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Corporate Communications and Events Specialist. The role will report to the Director, Communications. The individual will support corporate communications on behalf of the Alliance, working cross-functionally with colleagues in the organisation to implement communications initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

External Communications

  • Develop and implement communication strategies that support the Alliance’s goals and objectives. Grow and protect the Alliance’s reputation through external communications initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams to create and distribute executive communications, including newsletters, memos, and other materials.
  • Collaborate with the wider communications teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage and provide regular reports to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand communications requirements, objectives, and target audiences. Develop comprehensive plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.

Events

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand event requirements, objectives, and target audiences.
  • Develop comprehensive event plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Handle conference and meeting production that includes but is not limited to programme development and speaker management.
  • Manage vendors, suppliers, and partners required for event execution, including, but not limited to venues, caterers, audio-visual equipment providers.

➔ Profile

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in relevant specialisation
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills: The incumbent must write briefings, press releases and stakeholder communication, as well as give presentations internally.
  • Information gathering and interpreting: The ability to take on board and understand reams of new information is a critical skill required. The specialist must keep abreast of ever-changing developments in the external environment. The candidate is also required to stay up-to-date with waste management and plastics industry trends.
  • Strong media relations skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with journalists and influencers.
  • Ability to develop and execute communication strategies that support business goals and objectives.
  • Experience in media and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Performance and evidence-based approach to communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a creative mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a multi-stakeholder environment.
