We are seeking an experienced executive in the role of Head of Business Development (Large Scale Project) to oversee and drive the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects, from project origination to negotiating contracts, and overseeing project execution. This role requires a combination of strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and project structuring to accelerate company’s business growth in the Southeast Asian renewable energy market.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market Strategy & Project Origination

  • Initiate and lead the renewable energy business and project development activities, identifying market opportunities and structuring projects to align with company objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to explore new business opportunities, initiate customer engagement, and drive project development.
  • Identify and initiate greenfield and brownfield renewable energy projects, ensuring market viability and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with government agencies, utilities, landowners, investors, EPC contractors, and technology providers to support project development.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize commercial terms and agreements with customers, business partners, financial institutions, contractors, and relevant government authorities.
  • Leverage existing industry connections and internal corporate relationships to drive business expansion through strategic partnerships.

2. Project Development & Execution

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize commercial terms and agreements including PPA, MOU, JDA, SHA, etc with customers, business partners and other stakeholder(s) relevant to project development.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development process of utility-scale solar projects, including site acquisition, permitting, contract negotiations, construction and financing.
  • Work closely with engineering, finance, and legal teams to ensure the technical, financial, and regulatory aspects of projects are aligned for seamless execution.
  • Coordinate among internal and external stakeholders regarding technical feasibility, financing strategies, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.
  • Ensure project timelines and budgets are met, proactively managing risks and resolving development challenges.

3. Risk Management & Industry Insights

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for each project, providing detailed analysis and mitigation strategies to senior management.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities in the renewable energy market.

Profile

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development within utility-scale or large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of power purchase agreements (PPAs), permitting processes, and regulatory frameworks in Southeast Asia.
  • Expertise in negotiating and structuring commercial agreements with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, legal, and financial teams to drive project success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a risk management mindset to assess market challenges and opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project site visits, partner meetings, and industry engagements.
