AFE is seeking highly motivated Master's students, PhD candidates, research assistants, and early-career researchers to join our inaugural Energy Transition Research Fellowship Program.
The fellowship provides an opportunity to work on applied research and product development projects addressing real-world energy transition challenges in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Fellows will work directly with the Founder and Research Lead to support the development of:
- Energy Transition Readiness Assessment (ETRA)
- Sustainability and ESG assessment frameworks
- Energy analytics tools and methodologies
- Research publications and knowledge products
- Emerging innovation initiatives within the energy sector
Fellowship Overview

Key Responsibilities
Research & Analysis
- Conduct literature reviews and desktop research
- Analyze international frameworks and best practices
- Prepare research summaries and briefing materials
Framework Development
- Support assessment framework design
- Develop questionnaires and scoring methodologies
- Contribute to validation and improvement activities
Product Development
- Support development of dashboards, tools, and prototypes
- Assist in transforming research findings into practical solutions
Knowledge Products
- Develop presentations, reports, infographics, and publications
- Organize knowledge resources and research outputs
Fellowship Deliverables
During the fellowship period, fellows may contribute to
- Development of the Energy Transition Readiness Assessment (ETRA)
- Research briefs and analytical reports
- Assessment methodologies and questionnaires
- Presentations and knowledge products
- Partnership and ecosystem mapping activities
Research Support Grant
Selected fellows will receive
Research Support Grant: USD 270 per/month
This grant is intended to support learning, research activities, and professional development during the fellowship period.
