Entrepreneurship in the territories: is it the right time?

Our work focuses on humanitarian aid, safe migration and the fight against human trafficking - with a particular emphasis on protecting the rights of women and children.
The Technical Consultant is responsible for the following tasks, in line with the outputs/deliverables in section 6.
I. Renewable Energy-powered Abaca Processing Facility
a. Provide guidance to optimize the use of renewable energy for abaca fiber processing.
b. Support the development of facility management systems, including monitoring performance, tracking
production metrics, and generating reports on fiber quality and operational challenges.
c. Ensure compliance with environmental and operational standards.
d. Review and update the existing Manual of Operation, adapting it to the facilities' needs and ensuring
efficiency, equipment management, and safety protocols.
e. Provide guidance on implementing the Manual of Operation.
II. Cluster Formation of 6 Primary Cooperatives
a. Facilitate the organization and formalization of six primary cooperatives, including governance
structures, legal frameworks, and registration.
b. Strengthen governance and internal policies by defining roles, responsibilities, and decision-making
processes for effective cooperative management.
c. Develop capacity-building programs to enhance cooperative management and sustainability.
d. Establish criteria for cooperative structuring, ensuring cooperation and collaboration across the cluster.
e. Develop a well-defined business model for the cooperative cluster to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
In carrying out these responsibilities, the consultant is expected to work closely with ECOWEB’s field team, cooperative
officers, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of technical recommendations into on-ground operations.
Specific areas of collaboration include:
• Coordinating with ECOWEB’s field team to assess the operational needs of the abaca processing facilities and
ensure alignment with community-based practices.
• Working alongside ECOWEB’s cooperative officers to strengthen the governance structures, financial
management, and sustainability plans of the clustered cooperatives.
• Conducting joint capacity-building sessions with ECOWEB facilitators to ensure knowledge transfer and long-term
sustainability of the interventions."
Educational background:
• University Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Renewable Energy,
Business Administration (with a focus on cooperatives or sustainable development), with a Master’s level is an
advantage.
Professional Background, and Required Knowledge, Experience, and Capacity:
• At least 5 years of experience working with renewable energy technologies, particularly solar energy systems, in
agricultural settings.
• Experience in the agricultural processing industry, particularly with fiber processing (such as abaca), is highly
preferred.
• Familiarity with the technical aspects of fiber production, including quality control, machinery, and operational workflows.
• Familiarity with environmental and operational standards, especially related to renewable energy, sustainable
agricultural practices, and processing facilities.
• Strong familiarity with cooperative laws in the Philippines is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in cooperative development, organizational strengthening, and governance,
including facilitating the formation and formalization of cooperatives.
• Strong background in designing and delivering capacity-building programs and workshops, especially in
cooperative management, financial sustainability, and leadership development.
• Experience in developing business models for cooperatives or small enterprises, with a focus on financial
sustainability, market access, and long-term growth strategies.
• Experience managing multi-faceted projects, including field visits, stakeholder coordination, and regular progress
reporting.
• Understanding of working in partnership with NGOs is an advantage
