Description of the mission

CWE’s Board of Trustees exists to provide strategic oversight, guidance, and stewardship in advancing the Centre’s mission. The Board supports the Centre by shaping its long-term vision, ensuring alignment with its values and objectives, and upholding high standards of governance and accountability.

In addition, the Board serves as a source of expertise, advocacy, and connection, helping to strengthen the Centre’s impact, build collaborative partnerships, and champion workplace equity across sectors and global regions. The full Terms of Reference for the Board of Trustees can be viewed here.

Profile

We are looking for 10–15 Board members who can bring their perspectives, lived experiences, and professional expertise. Collectively, members will contribute knowledge across areas such as human resources, people and culture, social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, feminism, finance, fundraising, organisational governance, policy, research, and communications.

We are also keen to hear from individuals who may have an interest in acting as the Secretary or Treasurer of the Board (role descriptions to be shared at a later date).

CWE particularly welcomes interest from individuals and communities whose voices are underrepresented in governance and leadership. This includes (but is not limited to) women, people from historically marginalised racial and ethnic backgrounds (Global Majority), disabled people, neurodivergent people, LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse individuals, people with long-term health conditions or chronic illnesses, people from working-class communities, migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, people from the Global South, those in informal or insecure employment, carers, younger and older workers, people of faith and from belief communities, and those from rural or geographically marginalised areas. We believe that centring such perspectives is essential to advancing genuine workplace equity.

Centre for Workplace Equity

We empower people to advance equity in their workplace by consulting with individuals and organisations on a range of workplace subjects such as flexible working, fair pay, or inclusive recruitment.
