➔ Description of the mission

Sekolah Cahaya Anak Papua in Raja Ampat, Papua Barat Daya is seeking a creative, compassionate, and adaptable Middle School Teacher to join our education team. This role is critical in shaping the academic, social, and personal development of students in our SMP Bilingual and SMK Ekowisata. Success in this position means building trusting relationships with students, delivering engaging lessons that connect with local culture, and supporting learners to achieve both academic growth and real-life skills.

As part of a school that integrates environmental sustainability and community-based learning, the teacher will also help students connect their education to the rich biodiversity and unique cultural heritage of Raja Ampat.

Responsibilities

  • Teach core subjects, such as English and Mathematics
  • Integrate English language skills into daily instruction to support bilingual learning
  • Prepare lesson plans aligned with our contextual approach
  • Use active, inclusive, and student-centered teaching methods
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress through formal and informal assessments
  • Provide academic and personal support to students
  • Participate in school-wide events, staff development, and community engagement
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, school leaders, and parents/guardians
  • Encourage values of environmental awareness, teamwork, and local wisdom

➔ Profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (S1)
  • Experience teaching middle school/junior high school (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to teach in Bahasa Indonesia and support English language development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of inclusive and differentiated instruction
  • Willingness to work in a remote, culturally diverse environment (Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua)
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to child development
  • Openness to integrating local culture and environmental conservation themes into learning
