➔ Description of the mission

Job Summary

The Online Protection Specialist will lead initiatives that safeguard children and youth from online abuse, exploitation, and digital threats. This role is central to the organization’s commitment to child protection in the digital age, ensuring that children’s rights are upheld in both physical and virtual environments. The postholder will design, implement, and monitor programs focused on online safety, digital literacy, and child safeguarding in cyberspace.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Implementation

  • Design and lead child-centered online protection programs, including digital safety education, awareness campaigns, and community-based interventions.
  • Develop training modules and tools for children, caregivers, educators, and partners on online safety and responsible digital citizenship.
  • Integrate online protection strategies into broader child protection and education programs.

Capacity Building and Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance to field teams, partners, and stakeholders on online child protection issues.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops for staff, community leaders, and youth groups.
  • Stay updated on emerging online risks and trends affecting children and youth.

Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with government agencies, schools, tech platforms, and civil society organizations to promote child-safe digital environments.
  • Represent ChildFund in relevant networks, coalitions, and policy dialogues on online child protection.
  • Support advocacy efforts for stronger laws, policies, and systems to protect children online.

Grant Management (SwipeSafe)

  • Manage the implementation of the Swipe Safe Project
  • Prepare and submit timely and quality grant reports
  • Prepare accurate project variance and modification reports
  • Organize/coordinate donor visits and project-related learning events

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Develop and apply monitoring tools to assess the effectiveness of online protection initiatives.
  • Document case studies, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Contribute to donor reports and organizational learning processes.

➔ Profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in child Protection, Information Technology, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in child protection, digital safety, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of online risks to children, including cyberbullying, online grooming, exploitation, and digital privacy issues.
  • Experience in training facilitation, curriculum development, and community engagement.
  • Experience in local and national level policy advocacy.
  • Familiarity with Philippine child protection laws and international frameworks
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Filipino; knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
