I. BACKGROUND

Clean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organization committed to reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in Asia, contributing to the development of a more sustainable, equitable, and healthier region. Our work focuses on implementing solutions that reduce air pollution, its detrimental health impacts, and mitigate the climate crisis.

As part of our ongoing Pathways for Clean Air and Clean Energy Project, Clean Air Asia is organizing a communications capacity-building workshop to strengthen the ability of civil society and advocacy partners to design and deliver scientifically rigorous, coordinated, and effective communications campaigns.

To support this initiative, we are hiring a Communications Research Assistant to assist with the planning and delivery of the workshop, coordinate with stakeholders, and lead the development of a communications toolkit that captures and shares outcomes and best practices from the event.

II. JOB SUMMARY

The Communications Research Assistant will play a pivotal role in the organization and delivery of the upcoming communications workshop and the development of an accompanying toolkit. The role will involve logistical coordination, liaising with participating organizations and the Clean Air Working Group (CAWG), supporting content development with the program team, and managing the production of a final report. The Communications Researcher will also support the hiring and coordination of external consultants, including a layout artist and a science communications expert.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF WORK

Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Communications Research Assistant will undertake the following tasks:

A. Workshop Planning and Coordination

  • Organize logistical aspects of the workshop, including scheduling, venue arrangements (if in-person), participant communication, and materials preparation.
  • Liaise with participating organizations and networks—including but not limited to the Clean Air Working Group (CAWG)—to confirm attendance and gather input for the agenda.
  • Collaborate with Clean Air Asia’s program and communications teams to develop a workshop agenda aligned with strategic goals.
  • Assist in the identification and hiring of a science communications specialist to support the facilitation of the event.

B. Communications Toolkit Development

  • Consolidate workshop learnings and outcomes to inform the creation of a user-friendly communications toolkit.
  • Draft and organize toolkit content, working closely with the program team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with a layout artist to finalize and publish the toolkit, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and adherence to branding guidelines.

C. Reporting and Documentation

  • Support the preparation of a final workshop report, including key outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with the program and comms teams on reviewing and validating content prior to publication.

D. Consultant Coordination

  • Assist in drafting Terms of Reference and managing the recruitment process for external consultants (e.g., layout artist, science communicator).
  • Serve as the liaison with hired consultants to ensure smooth coordination and timely delivery of outputs.

IV. DURATION AND REMUNERATION

The Communications Research Assistant (Consultant) will be appointed for a period of 3 to 4 months under a full-time, fixed-term consultancy contract. This position will follow a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office and in-person meetings or activities as required by the project. The work schedule will be determined in coordination with the Clean Air Asia team.

Remuneration is competitive and will vary based on the candidate’s professional qualifications and relevant work experience.
