POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Singapore

The International Blue Carbon Institute (IBCI) at Conservation International (CI) is advancing the science and support systems needed to unlock the full potential of blue carbon to address climate change, protect biodiversity and support threatened coastal communities. Partnering with governments, scientists, organizations, and local communities, the IBCI will develop and inform effective policy, finance, and implementation strategies for blue carbon ecosystems.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Coordinator – Blue Carbon Research Program with the IBCI. The Coordinator position is crucial in supporting our blue carbon research initiatives and programs. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of scientific research methodologies, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with CI’s Blue Climate team, Natural Climate Solutions Asia-Pacific team, CI’s country offices, partners, and stakeholders to provide research and administrative support for the IBCI’s growing portfolio of research programs and projects. include providing the support needed at various stages of project development and management, such as (but not exclusive to) grant and proposal development, project management, organization and administration , planning, and delivery of IBCI project activities, knowledge products, and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Research Program Support & Administration: Assist in the administration, planning, execution, and evaluation of blue carbon research programs that support IBCI’s objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with CI staff and partners in coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables for multiple research projects.
  • Logistics & Planning Support: Provide logistics and planning support for blue carbon-related activities, workshops, meetings, events, and travel arrangements associated with these activities.
  • Project Management: Track blue carbon project contracts and delivery, donor agreements, and review for compliance with donor agreements for IBCI and blue carbon research program activities.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Work closely with the capacity-development and partnerships teams to support the establishment and maintenance of partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, governmental bodies , other NGOs, and partners to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • General Writing Support: Support in the development of grant proposals and funding applications, reports, presentations, and other collaterals for IBCI and the CI Blue Climate team.
  • Scientific Communication: Contribute to the preparation of research reports, publications, educational materials, and other knowledge products for the IBCI.
  • Ethical Compliance: Ensure that all research activities adhere to ethical standards, legal regulations, and institutional policies, promoting responsible and sustainable research practices.
  • Capacity Building: Provide administrative support and oversee the day-to-day needs of the Blue Carbon Internship Program .
  • Public Awareness: Support the development and dissemination of communications collaterals to raise awareness of blue carbon science and policy and the IBCI’s strategic goals with both internal and external stakeholders.
Profile

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in research coordination, preferably within an academic, nature conservation, or environmental organization .
  • Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills, with the ability to contribute to research reports and publications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to function well in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work team environment.
  • Comfortable managing multiple duties and adapting to changing priorities.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Life Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field .
  • Have a good working knowledge of blue carbon in national and international policy instruments, blue carbon science , and methodologies.
  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of marine conservation challenges, and biodiversity issues at national and international levels.
  • A passion for nature conservation and a commitment to promoting environmental stewardship.
  • Courteous, tactful, and proven ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under the supervisor's direction.
  • Fluency in MS Office software and programs.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
