About the job

We are looking for a Youth Leader who has the heart and motivation to serve the underprivileged community through the work at Dignity for Children Foundation. You will be teaching in a non-profit school environment and working closely with students, parents, and fellow educators to create a holistic and nurturing learning experience.

The Youth Leader is expected to be a positive mentor to youth and responsible for delivering holistic lessons that support both academic and personal development. The teacher role is expected to communicate with parents of their students in terms of education as well as the occasional welfare matters, while creating and maintaining a safe learning space for their class.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a mentor to youth and participate as a positive role model to build and nurture character in underprivileged youth
  • Plan and run academic lessons for subjects such as English, Mathematics, Global Perspectives, and Entrepreneurship which prepare youths with knowledge to enter the workplace
  • Conduct lessons with socio-emotional learning (SEL) components that empower youths to apply SEL in daily life
  • Plan and organize character building-focused camps & workshops that instill discipline and strong character in youths
  • Follow up on students' welfare and disciplinary issues through conducting one-to-one meetings and home visits
  • Evaluate youths' academic and soft skills development through termly assessments
  • Carry out and complete administrative responsibilities such as taking attendance, reporting, marking exam papers, welfare and wellness applications and others
  • Build and maintain relationship with youths' parents to form a partnership in supporting youths' holistic development
  • Participate actively in school activities and program which includes Dignity events
  • Attend professional development courses and workshops organized by Dignity
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

➔ Profile

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Teaching certifications and experience in teaching or leadership (preferred but not necessary)
  • Has experience in program development, curriculum writing and research skills
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create productive and healthy relationships
  • Ability to collaborate and work with teams
  • Ability to work independently

Technical Competency Requirements:

  • Knowledge and familiarity in usage of ZOOM and/or Google Classroom is required
  • Computer competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical school/office environment
  • Travel will be required when participating in youth workshops or camps outstation
  • Must be comfortable to participate in outdoor activities as required by education programs
  • Occasional night and weekend work schedules during workshops
