From French vision to Filipino taps, E&V Water and Life weaves water access, hygiene education, and community resilience into a tapestry of inclusive urban life.
Founded in 2008, better with water (previously Eau et Vie) is a French non-confessional and non-political international solidarity association, inspired by an idea: slum dwellers also deserve and can afford sustainable water supply in their homes. The main levers of action include providing access to clean water in households, mobilizing and supporting communities to build their capacity, organizing hygiene and clean environment awareness sessions in schools and public spaces and enhancing fire-fighting and emergency management capabilities.
In 2024, better with water works in 2 countries (Bangladesh and the Philippines) for a global budget of 3.3M€, with mixed financing (private and public).
In a context of end of mission, better with water is seeking for its new:
As head of the Head Office in the Philippines and under the supervision of the CEO based in the Headquarters in France, the Country Director coordinates and supervises activities of both BWW Social Enterprise and NGO - meaning impulse strategic development, support operational implementation, manages the local Executive Committee within the strategic framework given by the HQ, to guarantee their efficiency and sustainability. The two entities represent a total of almost 95 employees and represents an annual budget of 1,7 M€.
The main responsibilities are the following:
The Country Director is a permanent member of the HQ Executive Committee. His/her mission is also to enhance the capacities of the local Management Committee.
Education & Professional Background
Holder of at least a Master’s degree/MBA in Project or Business Management (or any other relevant field), you have a proven experience of at least seven years spent at Management positions, including one experience of a global program/organization management.
A 2-year-long experience in international development is compulsory, including management of multicultural teams.
First contact with Filippino context and/or one of better with water’s fields of interventions are more than strong assets.
A significant WASH experience in urban areas is also a strong asset.
As a veritable conductor, you appreciate to design, implement and monitor programs. At ease with negotiations with external partners of very different perspective, you need to be agile and forward-looking.
Your taste for challenge from coping strategies to social business issues makes you comfortable in any situation.
Working autonomously as team leader, you are not afraid of being in the “heart of the operations” sometimes.
Patience, leadership and sense of pedagogy will be helpful in a context of consolidation of the internal processes and development of the program.
Language skills
Fully proficiency in English is compulsory. Knowledge of French would be a strong asset.
Conditions
Mission based in Mandaue City – Cebu Island, in the Philippines, with regular field visits in our intervention areas in Manila North and South, Cebu and Leyte.
Full time position with at least a 2-year commitment
