Community & Programme Coordinator

Full-time; On-site

Location: Downtown Kuala Lumpur

Are you enthusiastic about the environment and excited about food, farming or nature? Eats, Shoots & Roots, is a social enterprise based in Kuala Lumpur, is searching for a passionate Community & Programmes Coordinator. Our mission is to empower KL folks with the skills and knowledge to cultivate food, and foster a connection with nature. As our Community & Programmes Coordinator, you will play a vital role in working with communities to support in implementing initiatives that inspire environmental awareness and more.

Job Scope

  • To support and implement events, programmes and workshops that initiatives in line with our mission

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Support Program Development and Implementation: Assist in designing and delivering workshops and events that engage and educate adults, kids and families related to edible gardening, agriculture, permaculture, food, and more
  • Build Community Relationships: Collaborate with a diverse range of community members and communities from corporates, NGOs, schools and more - helping to establish partnerships that strengthen our mission and broaden our impact
  • Contribute to Creative Program Initiatives: Utilize your creativity to support the development of programmes that teach and promote practical skills related to our main mission, and foster a deeper appreciation for the environment.
  • Promote Environmental Stewardship: Play an active role in our mission to cultivate environmentally conscientious urbanites, and an environmentally conscious city.

  • Organizing Community Programmes and Workshops
  • Coordinating Programmes and Workshops for external clients
  • Liaising with communities
  • Programme Impact Reporting
  • Programme Documentation
  • Programme Facilitation or Assistance
  • Garden Tours
Profile

Requirements / Criteria

  • Has some experience in program coordination and community engagement
  • Keen interest in food / agriculture / horticulture / permaculture / nature
  • Possesses strong communication and organizational skills. Able to communicate and write in good English, and an advantage if you can communicate in Malay / Chinese
  • Is eager to work in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.
  • Good with both kids and adults
  • Whilst experience in gardening is not a must, a good positive and kind attitude is necessary
  • Not afraid of mozzies and the sun! This job requires you to be outdoors sometimes
  • Can travel independently
  • A mobile phone is necessary for reporting and communication with the team; if you have one you are able to use yours, if you don’t we are able to provide one for the hiring period. Willing to adopt platforms that ESR uses.
  • Independent, reliable, punctual
  • Able to work on weekends (not all the time, we also take turns, and you can get replacement leave for them)

Remuneration & Benefits

  • RM2500 - RM3000 a month, depending on capability
