➔ Description of the mission

Position Summary

Responsible for all social topics related to assigned programs & projects, including:

  • Identifying and understanding the needs of children and families.
  • Visiting families to ensure alignment with EDM’s policy.
  • Following up on education and guiding studies orientation through a personalized approach.
  • Respecting Child Rights and Protection policies, and EDM rules and values.
  • Collaborating with other EDM centers on social services in Cambodia.

Duties & Responsibilities

Social Work & Sponsorship Programs:

  • Manage assigned programs (e.g., O Mal, Battambang, Lahok Pi/Pailin, CINTRI, Banan).
  • Conduct home visits to assess health, hygiene, income, migration, education, and prepare follow-up reports.
  • Monitor academic performance through school visits, attendance checks, exams, and notebook reviews.
  • Facilitate communication between sponsored children and godparents (collect/distribute letters).
  • Support recruitment of new students (organize exams, prepare files, present to Program Manager).
  • Maintain relationships with teachers, volunteers, and local authorities.
  • Understand program context to support sustainable assistance.

Monthly Distributions:

  • Update distribution lists, organize activities, share updates, check on student wellbeing.
  • Review and distribute godparent letters; record observations.

Battambang Foyers:

  • Ensure adherence to house rules.
  • Support student motivation, study, and future orientation.
  • Participate in boarding life (dinners, study supervision, cleanliness).
  • Organize recreational/educational activities.
  • Communicate concerns and progress with volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Work History

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in social work, community development, education, or youth programs.

Skills & Knowledge

General & Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of issues affecting vulnerable children and families.
  • Ability to design and implement educational/life-skills activities.
  • Professional, empathetic, confidential home visits.
  • Capacity to provide academic support and guidance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools.
  • Ability to supervise students at night and ride a motorbike for field missions.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Leadership in facilitating activities and youth engagement.
