About Forum for the Future

Forum for the Future, one of the world’s leading international sustainability organizations with a 30-year track record, works to influence the arc of change towards a just and regenerative future. We inspire change-actors to step up their ambition, stretch their vision and find pathways towards tackling the complex causes of the ecological and social challenges of our time. We partner with business, civil society, government and philanthropy to initiate multi-stakeholder collaborations to drive deep systemic change. We operate as a global team, across four geographies—Americas, UK/Europe, India and Southeast Asia—delivering both international and local projects.

About the role

Forum is at an exciting time in its evolution. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, this role holds the potential to enhance our ability to create deep and lasting impact in Southeast Asia.

Scaling socially just, ecologically safe and regenerative renewable energy is one of Forum for the Future’s (“Forum”) key focus areas in our portfolio of energy programs. We work with people across a spectrum of markets and sectors (including developers, financiers and civil society) on more sustainable ways to produce and deploy renewable energy.

One of the key flagship programs is the Responsible Energy Initiative (REI), a multi-year program working to ensure renewable energy in Asia achieves its full potential and creates value in a way that is ecologically safe, rights-respecting and socially just. It operates in India and in the Philippines.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Programme Communications Manager to lead on the Responsible Energy Initiative (REI) - Philippines program communications efforts. The role will be an active part of both the Forum for the Future’s Southeast Asia team and Forum’s Marketing and Communications team. The role will be based in the Philippines and be part of Forum’s Southeast Asia team.

Profile

To thrive in this role, you should have a minimum of 5 years of working experience in communications and marketing (or transferable capabilities). A background in sustainability, the energy sector or the international non-profit sector, will be advantageous. You should possess skills in:

  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to see how communications efforts are critical to creating impact;
  • Strong writing and editorial capabilities to translate complex concepts into simple, compelling narratives for target audiences;
  • A proven track record in working with the media, including writing, pitching and selling media ideas and articles;
  • Excellent relationship building, networking and presentation skills;
  • Basic graphic design skills to support effective visual communications;
  • Highly organized, self-driven and able to juggle multiple priorities in a matrixed organisational structure;
  • Great attention to detail; and
  • Resourcefulness and an ability to execute effectively with limited budget.

If you do not meet all the requirements outlined in the job description, but still believe you have the right mix of skills and experience to thrive in this role and further Forum’s ambitious goals for change, we encourage you to apply.

Forum for the Future works in a space of complexity where there are no easy answers – an ideal candidate will be comfortable with uncertainty and be able to hold space for exploration and innovation. Resilience is a key personal attribute that is necessary to the role.

In return, we offer a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of systems thinking and change making, continually learning and experimenting to identify how we deliver the most impact working in a collaborative multi-cultural team environment.
