Head of University and Career Counselling

The German European School Singapore (GESS) is looking for an experienced Head of University and Career Counselling.
The Head of University and Career Counselling is a senior position which works closely with the Senior Management Teams of the High School’s at GESS. Working collaboratively with relevant teams in the school, the job holder is responsible for providing strategic thinking in formulating, developing and executing strategies and programs as part of the overall strategic direction of German European School Singapore.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a multi-year strategy to establish a center of excellence within the UCC department, collaborating with section Directors.
- Develop and manage university admissions and career counselling programs for European and German students (Grades 8-12), including guidance on university selection, standardized testing, application procedures, and scholarships.
- Conduct workshops and seminars for students and parents on admissions and career planning.
- Create and implement policies for ongoing support post-results day and develop career exploration programs.
- Integrate college and career planning into the curriculum, stay updated on international universities and career trends, and organize related events.
- Maintain detailed records, generate reports on student progress, and stay informed about changes in admissions criteria and industry requirements.
- Develop and manage a centralized Career and University Counselling Microsite, oversee the UCC budget, and enhance the University Counselling team on campus.
Experience and Qualifications
- Relevant qualification/certification in university & careers counselling or 3-5 years of experience in a secondary school or student environment.
- Knowledge of university admissions processes in the US, UK, Europe (non-UK), and Australia.
- Experience with international students and culturally responsive practices.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technology skills.
- Ability to work strategically with senior leadership and manage a diverse team.
- Experience with German university admissions processes and German language skills are advantageous to liaise with German speaking students, colleagues and parents.
- Flexible approach, willingness to work beyond school hours, and meet deadlines.
