About the Role

We are looking for an individual to join GWEC's Communications team as a Communications Officer. The role will support GWEC's wind power advocacy globally and across key markets in the Asia-Pacific region. The role will involve:

  • Actively communicating our work – on our own content platforms, working with our membership and engaging with media in the region
  • Supporting production and publication of reports, papers and research documents
  • Working to maximise the impact of events and engagements in the region
  • Media engagement

Expectations

You will work closely with global communications team and Asia policy unit to deliver communications plans in the Asia region, which are part of an overall global strategy. There will be a split between advocacy focused, message-led work and commercially driven marketing-focused work to support GWEC’s commercial team.

The candidate will understand the wind energy industry, and should have the following background or work experience:

  • Experience of working with the energy industry in the APAC or globally;
  • Understanding of the wind industry
  • Understanding of regional communications landscape for energy and climate issues
  • Knowledge of the industry stakeholders and GWEC’s partners in the region.

The candidate should also be able to demonstrate a track record communications experience, including:

  • Content planning, design and delivery
  • Press Release writing
  • An understanding of policy delivery and strategic communications
  • Internal communications to support GWEC’s working groups and task forces

The candidate will also support the team with events, workshops and roundtables in the region, as well as key GWEC events such as GWEC’s APAC Summit. The candidate should have knowledge off:

  • Logistics including invites, registration and liaising with organisers
  • Support with marketing teams for GWEC operated, or supported, events

You will be based in Singapore, reporting to the Communications Director. You will work closely with the global team on a day-to-day basis, and be a key link to GWEC's Asia Team. The position offers potential for frequent international travel and remote working.

Key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:

Communications:

  • Develop and drive communication strategies to create awareness of GWEC Asia’s involvement in the regional and global markets
  • Including executing strategic communications plans, supporting the team with shaping op-eds and thought leadership
  • Social media and newsletter management, event marketing, and media engagement.

Stakeholder management

  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as relevant government, industry players, trade and association partners, member communication teams, journalists and media at a variety of organizational levels for communications and event management purposes.

Media engagement

  • Being a point of contact for media, sharing/drafting press releases, and embargo reports.
  • Developing media contacts in the region, for both global and regional outlets
  • Helping build GWEC's network of influencers and key voices in the region

Tools

  • Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Canva, Mailchimp, HubSpot and WordPress appreciated
  • Experience of working with professional graphic designers to design reports and visual assets appreciated

Qualifications

  • 3+ years communications experience; events experience is welcomed
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency in using different email marketing tools: Mailchimp and others
  • Proficiency in using graphic design software
  • Proficiency in running different webinar software and familiar with the whole webinar planning and implementation process
  • A self-starter who can work with limited oversight
  • Problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Good team working spirit and skills
  • Project planning, risk management, time management and other project management skills
  • Rights to work in Singapore
