Job Summary

Terwilliger Center is an innovation hub within Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) that contributes to its mission of ensuring that everyone has a decent place to live in. The purpose of TCIS is to continue influencing the market actors such as private companies, public officials, civil society, consumers, and households; to support scalable and affordable housing solutions through their products and services.

The Specialist - Market Systems and Entrepreneurship will develop programming that expands Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) work with housing market systems in the Philippines. The position entails working with market actors, low-income homeowners, external consultants and regional and global TCIS and HFHI teams and supporting TCIS team in Philippines in finance and administration related to market-systems development.

This position will be based in Manila or Cebu City, Philippines. Candidate must be currently eligible to work in the Philippines without sponsorship.

Essential Duties And Responsibilties

  • Supports the housing market systems work in the Philippines, identifying and soliciting initiatives from various market actors in the housing market systems, building relationships and supporting facilitation activities to expand accessible, durable housing solutions for low income Filipinos.
  • Provides portfolio, program and project management on the delivery of housing market systems mapping, value chain and market research, and facilitation activities with private sector firms and other relevant entities. Develops and leads formative action-research.
  • Leads monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL) for the portfolio. Utilizes the Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) Standards for Results Measurement.
  • Liaises with potential partners such as construction companies, materials suppliers, government agencies, and financial institutions, and industry associations among others. This includes providing technical support on various products and services in the housing value chain, and co-developing business models as part of the partnership agreements with market actors.
  • Provides technical inputs on various products and services in the housing markets. Assists in technical/commercial feasibility of various proposals, utilizing the business model canvas, to structure initiatives with housing market actors to address constraints in the housing market.
  • Provides thought leadership and drives learning on disaster resilience and housing market systems in the Philippines. Supports the development of a market systems program with thematic focus on gender, climate and resilience.
  • Identify and assess safeguarding risks related to partnerships and activities and take proactive mitigation measures to address those risks.
  • Assists and manages some of the research, strategy and planning of housing market systems program in Philippines. This includes leading the portfolio’s communications, thought leadership, and sustainability strategies of the country.
  • Represents the work of the Lab in industry gatherings and conferences, as needed.
  • Assists in completion of special projects as required and other related duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Profile

Minimum Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Economics, Business Administration, Finance or any related filed.
  • Master’s degree/ MBA is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in green construction or certification or finance is a plus
