Description of the mission

JOB SUMMARY

The Advocacy and Policy Officer develops and implements strategies to influence policies on biodiversity conservation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The role involves leading advocacy campaigns, building relationships with key stakeholders, preparing policy briefs, conducting research on emerging environmental issues, engaging with decision-makers, and tracking legislative developments. Additionally, the Officer fosters cross-sectoral collaborations, manages rapid responses during environmental crises, and monitors the impact of campaigns to ensure they align with goals.

Profile

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Policy, Communication, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred but not required. At least 3 years of professional experience in advocacy and policy analysis and developing and implementing advocacy strategies and campaigns particularly in the areas of biodiversity conservation, climate change, or environmental protection.

• Ability to conduct policy analysis and development, design and manage advocacy campaigns, engage and build relationships with multi-level stakeholders, including the government, civil society organizations (CSOs), indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs), and other decision-makers and influencers.

• Deep understanding of legislative processes, and of both the Philippine and global environmental landscapes, including multilateral environmental agreements.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Openness and flexibility to travel for field activities, advocacy campaigns, or other relevant events as required.
