INSEAD is seeking a Research Librarian (Internal Job Title: Research Specialist) to join our Research and Innovation Department. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Asia Campus in Singapore. A hybrid working model is in place – 3 days on campus, 2 days from home.

About The Job

Reporting to the Associate Director of the Tanoto Research & Learning Hub (Library) at the Asia Campus, the Research Specialist plays a pivotal role in facilitating data-driven research across diverse disciplines at INSEAD. This position provides high-level, customised support to both faculty and participants. The specialist addresses research inquiries and develops solutions by employing relevant quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Additionally, their areas of expertise include user experience (UX), data and research impact, and library operations.

Your role within the team

  • Address research inquiries and fulfil the information needs of the entire INSEAD community, including faculty, PhD candidates, research assistants, all degree program participants, and select Executive Education participants.
  • Organise and deliver orientation sessions for new intakes, tailored workshops for specific groups, and individual support sessions upon request.
  • Master and promote all subscribed and relevant databases' content and stay abreast of new content and updates within each platform.
  • Guide all PhD candidates, EMC and GEMBA students in performing Literature Reviews for the final paper or thesis.
  • Conduct literature searches, data extractions, data merge, provide expertise and support in the areas of data analysis (Text & Data Mining - TDM) tools & methods.
  • Coordinate and conduct user experience (UX) surveys and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Library user accounts, journal & articles requests and interlibrary loan activities for the dedicated campus.
  • Actively contribute to team collaboration, sharing responsibilities to enhance the overall user experience.

Profile

The ideal candidate profile

  • Candidates should possess an MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution, or an equivalent degree from another country (e.g., an MSc in IS/KM for Singapore, an ENSSIB for France). A diploma/degree in Business or Social Sciences is preferred.
  • We are looking for applicants with 2 to 3 years of experience in research-intensive higher education institutions, with a preference for those who have worked in business schools. Additionally, candidates should have 2 to 3 years of experience in Information or Library Science, or in Data Science.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a customer-focused attitude, and a positive demeanour are essential.
  • Candidates should be proficient in library operations and technology, culturally savvy, and able to be a collaborative team player.
  • A curious mindset and eagerness to share expertise with the international community are also important.
  • Candidates with proficiency in quantitative research methods, databases, and tools related to Business & Management and Social Sciences; experience with text and data mining (TDM); and skills in R, SAS, SPSS, and STATA, as is familiarity with project advisory support and AI tools, are advantageous.
