Job Purpose
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project “Scaling up Locally-led Adaptation and Transforming Humanitarian Responses to Climate Change”; subsequently referred to as USAID Climate Change Adaptation / CCA project) aims to support the implementation of the Global Climate Resilience Programme and commitments made under the Climate and Environment Charter in several countries in Africa and Asia Pacific.
Under the supervision of the Thematic Lead, Climate and Environmental Crises, the Regional Coordinator, Climate Change Adaptation provides support to the climate change adaptation portfolio in the Asia Pacific including the Global Climate Resilience Programme and USAID CCA project, engage with climate finance and resource mobilization teams and support the National Society teams to accelerate the implementation of the regional climate change and environment strategic framework and their respective climate strategies and plans.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Provide support to the coordination of the IFRC Asia Pacific climate change adaptation programming portfolio, including the Global Climate Resilience Programme.
- Support the management and implementation of the IFRC Asia Pacific climate change adaptation portfolio.
- In coordination with regional technical teams, contribute to support National Societies to plan, design and implement climate change adaptation programming including preparedness and response to heatwaves.
- Coordinate with regional technical teams to strengthen the capacity of National Societies to promote climate change adaptation and resilient livelihoods.
- Contribute to facilitate the sharing of regular updates, experiences, and lessons within and between IFRC Country/Cluster Delegations and National Societies implementing climate change adaptation programmes in the region.
- Support activities to promote increased understanding of climate change adaptation and mitigation terminologies, and the implications of climate change on health and displacement within the region.
- Support the effective integration of climate change in IFRC Country/Cluster Delegation planning and reporting.
- Engage with IFRC Country/Cluster Delegations and resource mobilization teams to obtain required information from National Societies to support coordination of climate actions and resource mobilization efforts.
