Position Overview

The Business Development Director will be responsible for market development, strategic partnerships, customer acquisition, and commercial negotiations for the company’s advanced flow battery energy storage systems.

This role focuses on developing business opportunities in long-duration energy storage applications, including commercial and industrial energy storage, data centers, microgrids, renewable energy integration, EV charging infrastructure, industrial parks, and overseas energy markets.

The candidate should be able to translate the technical advantages of new flow battery technologies into customer value, commercial opportunities, and market adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Development & Customer Acquisition
  • Develop domestic and international markets for advanced flow battery energy storage systems;
  • Identify and engage potential customers in energy utilities, industrial parks, data centers, renewable energy developers, EPC companies, energy service companies, and overseas energy projects;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, strategic partners, industry platforms, and government-related stakeholders;
  • Explore application opportunities in long-duration storage, C&I storage, microgrids, safe backup power, renewable energy integration, and energy infrastructure.
  • Business Opportunity Conversion
  • Understand customer needs, project scenarios, and decision-making processes;
  • Work with technical teams to develop suitable energy storage solutions and techno-commercial proposals;
  • Drive business opportunities from initial contact, requirement clarification, solution discussion, quotation, negotiation, and contract signing;
  • Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, business models, delivery scope, payment terms, and cooperation structures;
  • Coordinate internal R&D, engineering, finance, and legal teams to support business execution.
  • Business Model & Solution Design
  • Participate in the design of commercial models for flow battery energy storage systems, including equipment sales, EPC partnerships, energy management, leasing, capacity services, and joint development models;
  • Support project-level financial analysis, customer value assessment, and pricing strategy;
  • Develop standardized business proposals, sales tools, and customer-facing materials for different application scenarios.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Channel Development
  • Develop partnerships with EPC companies, energy service providers, system integrators, renewable energy developers, industrial customers, and overseas partners;
  • Support strategic cooperation with energy companies, industrial groups, data center operators, government platforms, and investment partners;
  • Represent the company in industry events, customer meetings, technical exchanges, and commercial negotiations.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
  • Track energy storage policies, market trends, customer requirements, and pricing dynamics;
  • Analyze competing technologies including lithium-ion batteries, vanadium flow batteries, sodium-ion batteries, compressed air energy storage, and other long-duration storage solutions;
  • Provide market feedback to product and R&D teams to support product positioning, roadmap development, and market strategy.
  • Sales Pipeline & Target Achievement
  • Develop annual business development plans, target customer lists, and sales pipelines;
  • Maintain regular updates on customer progress, project probability, commercial risks, and expected contract timelines;
  • Take responsibility for key customer development, project conversion, contract signing, payment collection, and customer satisfaction.

Profile

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Energy, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Business, Finance, or related disciplines.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, project development, or strategic partnerships in renewable energy, energy storage, power equipment, EPC, industrial energy, or related sectors;
  • Experience in energy storage system sales, energy project development, C&I energy solutions, microgrids, data centers, or overseas energy projects is preferred;
  • Experience in B2B solution sales and complex project negotiation is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong customer development, commercial negotiation, and project execution capability;
  • Ability to understand energy storage system solutions, cost structures, and application scenarios;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with technical teams;
  • Strong resource integration and cross-functional coordination capability;
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and develop new markets for emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in long-duration energy storage, flow batteries, C&I storage, microgrids, data centers, or renewable energy integration;
  • Customer resources in utilities, energy groups, industrial parks, data centers, EPC companies, or overseas energy markets;
  • Familiarity with energy storage business models such as peak-valley arbitrage, capacity services, demand response, backup power, energy management, and power trading;
  • Experience in overseas market development and English business communication is preferred.

The Business Development Director is expected to play a key role in commercializing advanced flow battery energy storage technologies by developing market opportunities, building customer relationships, and converting technology advantages into commercial projects and long-term business growth.
