Role Description

The Campaigns & Coalition Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and mobilization of MGFI’s priority conservation campaigns via coalition-building.. The role brings together campaign planning, content and social media coordination, coalition-building, and public mobilization to sustain effective advocacy around key environmental issues.

The Coordinator will help ensure campaigns are proactive, organized, and sustained through regular campaign calendaring, content planning, partner engagement, and mobilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Campaign planning & calendaring: Initiate and maintain an integrated advocacy calendar covering priority campaigns, key dates, content opportunities, policy developments, coalition actions, and mobilizations.
  • Social media & content planning: Develop regular campaign content plans and coordinate with volunteers on social media posts, explainers, statements, petitions, videos, and other advocacy materials.
  • Campaign coordination: Develop campaign plans, objectives, timelines, stakeholder maps, key messages, calls to action, and action trackers.
  • Coalition building: Serve as secretariat for conservation coalitions, including partner communications, meetings, documentation, databases, and follow-through.
  • Mobilization: Coordinate petitions, sign-on letters, joint statements, briefings, public actions, community activities, and other forms of partner and public engagement.
  • Monitoring: Track relevant developments and identify opportunities for timely advocacy and coalition action.
  • Cross-team coordination: Work closely with Advocacy, Communications, Legal, and other teams to ensure campaigns are accurate, timely, and strategically coordinated.

Part-Time Engagement

The position is designed as an approximately 20-hour-per-week consultancy, with flexibility in how hours are distributed across the week.

Time will be dedicated to active campaign implementation as well as forward planning, research, coalition organizing, relationship-building, content calendaring, documentation, and preparation for future advocacy opportunities.

The role is primarily responsible for planning, coordination, and mobilization, while content production and publishing will generally be undertaken in coordination with MGFI’s Communications team.

Key Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in advocacy, campaigns, communications, coalition-building, community organizing, or related work.
  • Strong understanding of campaign planning, social media, and digital communications.
  • Excellent writing, coordination, and project-management skills.
  • Strong instinct for translating complex issues into accessible public campaigns and content.
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing campaign and content calendars across multiple issues.
  • Comfortable engaging NGOs, communities, youth groups, advocates, and institutional partners.
  • Experience in environmental advocacy, civil society, or public-interest communications is an advantage.
  • Strong commitment to environmental conservation and MGFI’s mission.

Ideal profile: A highly organized campaigner, communicator, and connector who can keep campaigns planned, visible, partners engaged, and advocacy activities moving forward consistently.
