Description of the mission

Role Overview

As the Events & Community Partnerships Manager, you will lead the development and coordination of sustainability and ocean-related events across Ocean Purpose Project’s growing network of OPP Beach Hubs and Purpose Pavilions in Southeast Asia.

Your role will involve identifying and securing event partners, sustainability organisations, research institutions, and industry experts to host conferences, workshops, community programmes and cultural events within OPP spaces.

You will also work closely with the OPP Headquarters team in Singapore to coordinate scheduling, partnerships and strategic initiatives.

This role combines events management, partnerships development, and community building within the rapidly growing blue economy sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Event Partnerships Development• Identify and secure sustainability organisations, ocean innovators, NGOs, researchers, and corporate partners to host events within OPP venues

• Develop partnerships with blue economy event providers, speakers, institutions, and organisations across Southeast Asia

• Build a pipeline of blue economy community members for international maritime agencies (our clients) conferences, workshops, hackathons, and community programmes for OPP venues

2. Events Management & Coordination• Coordinate and manage events hosted at OPP Beach Hubs and Purpose Pavilions

• Work closely with OPP Headquarters in Singapore to manage venue availability and scheduling

• Oversee event planning logistics including speakers, programme flow, partnerships and vendors

3. Landmark OPP Purpose Pavilion Project• Lead event programming for the OPP Purpose Pavilion in Pasir Ris Singapore, a flagship sustainability and ocean innovation venue

• Coordinate with partners including:

Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment

SG Eco Fund

DesignSingapore Council

Singapore Tourism Board

National Heritage Board

National Research Council

National Parks Board

PUB (Singapore’s National Water Agency)

Building and Construction Authority

Energy Market Authority

and other Singapore government agencies as well as global equivalents in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Fiji, Niue and other Pacific Islands

4. ASEAN Beach Hub Expansion• Support the rollout of OPP Beach Hubs across Southeast Asia

• Identify local partners and organisations to activate programming in these spaces

• Develop regionally relevant sustainability, ocean conservation, and community events

• Build close relationships with donors and OPP Board members on expansion and ensure OPP's highest levels of service, experience and quality with data driven insights during Board update sessions

5. Community & Ecosystem Building• Grow the OPP community by bringing together:

Ocean innovators

Sustainability organisations

Environmental NGOs

Researchers and universities

Artists and cultural practitioners

Blue economy startups

• Curate events that combine science, sustainability, community engagement and Southeast Asian cultural heritage

6. Sustainability & Renewable Energy Events• Work with OPP’s renewable energy partners to support demonstration events showcasing:

Solar energy

Tidal energy

Wind power

Plastic-to-hydrogen innovation

Nature-based climate solutions

• Develop programming that showcases future ocean and energy solutions

Profile

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about ocean conservation and sustainability

• Highly organised and able to lead and manage multiple events simultaneously

• Excellent at networking and building partnerships, a terrific facilitator and emcee

• Comfortable engaging with government agencies, corporates and NGOs

• Independent and proactive while coordinating closely with the HQ team

Preferred Experience

• Event management or conference production

• Community building or ecosystem development

• Sustainability or environmental sector experience

• Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or regional organisations

Bonus if you have experience organising:

• Sustainability conferences

• Ocean conservation events

• Cultural or community festivals

• Blue economy innovation events
