COMMUNICATIONS & VISIBILITY OFFICER - ONE MILLION LIGHTS PHILIPPINES

Terms of Employment: Full-time

Location: Remote work but must be based in the Philippines; must be ready to travel

Reports to: Program Director

Base Salary: PHP 28,000 - 30,000

Start Date: June/July 2026

YOUR ROLE

The Communications and Visibility Officer drives public awareness and branding for projects, organizations, or donor-funded initiatives by implementing communication strategies, creating content (reports, press releases, multimedia), managing digital platforms (websites/social media), and ensuring branding compliance. They often serve as the focal point for media relations, event planning, and documenting project success stories.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As Communications and Visibility Officer, you will have the following responsibilities:

Communications Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and execution of communication and visibility plans aligned with organizational priorities and donor requirements.
  • Translate project objectives into clear communication approaches and messaging.
  • Monitor implementation of communication activities and flag gaps or opportunities for improvement.

Content Development & Storytelling

  • Produce high-quality communication materials, including social media content, newsletters, project briefs, presentations, and reports.
  • Gather stories, photos, and testimonials from project sites to highlight impact.
  • Draft donor-facing content, including sections of reports and updates, in coordination with program and partnerships departments.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and messaging standards.

Digital & Media Management

  • Manage and regularly update digital platforms, including the website and social media channels.
  • Schedule and publish content, ensuring consistency and timeliness.
  • Monitor engagement metrics (reach, impressions, engagement rates) and provide basic analysis.
  • Support media outreach efforts, including drafting press releases and coordinating with media partners when needed.

Events & Visibility Support

  • Coordinate communication requirements for events such as project launches, site visits, turnover ceremonies, and partner engagements.
  • Prepare event materials (e.g., banners, presentations, scripts, documentation).
  • Document events through photos, videos, and post-event summaries.
  • Support visibility requirements for partners and donors during events and announcements.

Knowledge Management & Documentation

  • Maintain organized documentation of communication assets, project photos, videos, and reports.
  • Support the documentation of best practices, case studies, and lessons learned from projects.
  • Ensure that communication outputs are properly archived and easily accessible for future use.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Represent OML and high value donors in a clean, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, renewable energy innovations, and relevant policies to inform program strategies and partnerships.
  • Undertake any other tasks, duties, or responsibilities assigned by the Program Director, as informed through formal notice, to contribute to the successful execution of OML’s mission and programs.

Profile

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Development Studies, or a related field are preferred but are not required.
  • Proven experience in communications, advocacy, or public information, often within an NGO or international organization.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in content creation tools, social media management, and basic multimedia/graphic design software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Filipino. Skills in speaking and writing in other local languages are a plus.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy, sustainability, or community development programs is an advantage.
