
ROLE SUMMARY
The Communications Officer manages project visibility, documentation, and communication products. The role prepares DFAT-compliant branded materials, stories of change, event documentation, and digital content to support milestone reporting and updates to partners.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Visibility and Branding Compliance
- Ensure all communication materials comply with DFAT Australian Aid branding and visibility guidelines.
- Prepare event branding materials, including banners, backdrops, certificates, and participant kits.
- Review photos, videos, and other communication outputs for correct branding prior to release.
- Coordinate with DFAT Public Affairs for clearance of major materials.
Content Development
- Draft press releases, human-interest stories, feature articles, and social media content.
- Produce documentation for governance workshops, TESD training cycles, CBO activities, and LGU planning sessions.
- Create short video highlights and success-story videos featuring project beneficiaries.
- Prepare write-ups, captions, and digital assets for milestone submissions and DFAT updates.
Event Documentation
- Provide photo and video coverage for project activities.
- Organize visual documentation files, metadata, and consent forms.
- Capture stories, quotes, and narrative elements during field activities.
- Support project visibility during the launch and end-of-project forum.
Knowledge and Learning Support
- Collaborate with the MEL Officer to document lessons learned and case stories.
- Assist in the preparation of knowledge products, presentations, and learning briefs.
- Contribute communications inputs to quarterly reports and milestone submissions.
Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with LGUs, BARMM ministries, CBOs, and camp leaders for documentation needs.
- Work with the Admin Officer to prepare communication kits and manage event logistics.
- Engage community groups respectfully while observing conflict-sensitive communication standards.
Compliance with DFAT Safeguards
- Ensure communication practices comply with DFAT policies on:
- Child Protection
- Preventing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH)
- Counter-Terrorism Financing
- Do No Harm and conflict sensitivity
- Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all media files and personal information.
