POSITION SUMMARY:

Rainforest Alliance Indonesia is looking for a Project Manager to lead the implementation of a project entitled “ACT! Accelerating Consumer Transformation and Sustainability in Indonesia” funded by the European Commission (EU). The project will respond to foster consumer practices that minimize environmental and social impacts and working with the hospitality and retail industries to promote the broad accessibility of sustainably sourced food products.

The main objective of the action is to increase the sustainable production of coffee, cocoa, tea, and palm oil in Indonesia, thereby contributing to Indonesia's progress towards the global framework and programs on sustainable consumption and production patterns. The action will reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of domestic food consumption in Indonesia. The initiative focuses primarily in Yogyakarta and Bali, targeting the hospitality (hotels and restaurants) and retail (selected supermarkets) sectors.

Consumer engagement is the strategic process of intervening in a market to create lasting change in consumer behaviour by removing barriers and/or utilizing opportunities to better communicate the importance of sustainable consumption and production of commodities in Indonesia.

The Project Manager will report to the Country Director, Indonesia, and will work closely with our global market team, the Indonesia team as well as the project consortium members to push forward the improved demand for sustainable products to be visible in Indonesia's domestic market.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead the implementation of ACT! Project by integrating work plan and budgeting process;
  • Lead the project implementation as a cohesive and efficient operation, ensuring that staff, consultants and, sub-contractors have clear roles, and the information and resources needed to fulfil them;
  • Manage the project staff following Rainforest Alliance's HR policy, including recruitment;
  • Lead complete, high-quality narrative and financial reporting as per project requirements for submission;
  • Lead the development of project strategy implementation following the project aims to improve the sustainable consumption and production of targeted commodities;
  • Communicate with the related Ministries whose portfolio is relevant to the project, to align with government policies and looking for opportunities for convergence with government programmes;
  • Communicate with the regional and global teams of thematic and programme specialists in Rainforest Alliance, including communications, and secure their contributions to the project as required;
  • Be a member of Rainforest Alliance Indonesia senior staff, participating in meetings and ensuring that project activities are consistent with strategy and contribute to growth; and
  • Play an active role in close coordination with Country Director Indonesia in identifying and developing opportunities for generating new resources to support expansion of project activities and strategic growth of Rainforest Alliance in Indonesia.

Profile

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree (post-graduation is favourable) in communication, public relations, business management, environmental science, natural resources management or similar;
  • At least 7 years of demonstrated experience in project or program management;
  • Experience leading internationally funded projects in the area of sustainable consumption and production.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal proficiency in English;
  • Interact culturally, linguistically, and diplomatically with diverse internal and external individuals;
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to environmental issues and sustainability practices;
  • When required, travel to the project site, up to 25% per year.
