Description of the mission

About Reclimate

The Global South isn’t just vulnerable to climate change… it is the launchpad for the world’s most potent solutions. At Reclimate, we are a high-growth climate-tech venture scaling durable carbon removal across Southeast Asia. We work with agricultural leaders, plantation innovators, and rural communities to turn agricultural waste into climate solutions while creating lasting impact for local communities.

If you want to move beyond sustainability buzzwords and help build the green economy from the ground up, you’re in the right place.

The Role

We are looking for an Agronomy & Operations Associate to support our agricultural carbon removal projects in Malaysia. This role is ideal for a fresh graduate in agriculture, agronomy, environmental science, or a related field who wants to apply their scientific knowledge to real-world climate projects.

You will work across project site assessments, farmer engagement, field sampling, agricultural data collection, biochar trials, monitoring, and documentation. You don't need to know everything about biochar or carbon markets — we’ll teach you! What matters is that you’re curious, practical, detail-oriented, and excited to learn.

The role is a mix of field work and remote project coordination. You may spend time at farms collecting samples and monitoring trials, then work remotely to analyse data, track project progress, and support reporting.

🌱 Key Responsibilities

  • Assess Project Sites: Support site assessments and collect data on crops, soils, farming practices, biomass, and other project requirements.
  • Work With Farmers: Engage with farmers and local partners to understand practices, communicate project requirements, and support implementation.
  • Conduct Fieldwork: Carry out sampling and monitoring of soil, biomass, biochar, crops, and field trials.
  • Manage Project Data: Maintain accurate field records, datasets, photos, samples, and documentation for project monitoring and dMRV.
  • Connect Field to Project: Turn field observations and data into clear updates for technical, operations, and commercial teams, while supporting continuous improvement of project processes.

🎁 What You Will Gain

  • Field-to-Carbon Experience: Learn how agriculture, biochar, soil science, dMRV, and carbon removal come together in real projects.
  • Real Scientific Application: See how biochar interventions can affect soils and crop performance, and how these outcomes are measured.
  • Project Experience: Understand how a carbon project moves from site assessment and field implementation to monitoring and verification.
  • Regional Exposure: Work with agricultural communities and project partners across Southeast Asia as Reclimate expands.

Profile

🧠 Must-Have Traits (The "Reclimate Mindset")

  • Figure It Out: You don't need to know everything — but you know how to find answers.
  • Curious: You enjoy asking questions and understanding how things work beyond the textbook.
  • Detail-Oriented: You care about getting field measurements, samples, and done documentation right.
  • Self-Driven: You can work independently, adapt to changing field conditions, and take ownership of your responsibilities.

🎯 Requirements

  • Fresh graduate or early-career candidate with a degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, Forestry, or a related field.
  • Passionate about climate action, sustainable agriculture, carbon removal, or environmental solutions.
  • Comfortable with fieldwork and travel to agricultural project sites.
  • Have a valid driving license.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional local languages are a plus.
  • Comfortable with Google Sheets, Docs and basic data management.
  • No prior biochar or carbon-market experience required. We’re looking for someone with a scientific foundation with a willingness to learn.
