RehmanMade is a one of a kind refugee and women-led social enterprise in all of South-East Asia dedicated to empowering refugee women, survivors of gender-based violence, single mothers, widows, and marginalized communities through safe, dignified, and eco-friendly livelihoods.

Through traditional, artisanal, and indigenous crafts including sewing, cutting, crochet, embroidery, tailoring, and upcycled handmade products, we create opportunities for economic independence, skills development, and community resilience.

About Your Mission

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Officer to lead and exceed our quality standards. You will grow our credibility and impact across Malaysia.

In this role, you will inspect products across various crafts to ensure standards while working closely with our artisans.

You will join a dedicated, small team creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for refugee women, single mothers, survivors of gender-based violence, and marginalized communities.

Your Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance and Product Standards (80%)

This can be broken down into four main categories:

Product Quality Control and Inspection

Monitor and assess the quality of upcycled products including sewing, cutting, crochet, embroidery, and handcrafted items to ensure consistency and high standards
Inspect finished products for workmanship, durability, cleanliness, measurements, stitching quality, finishing, and overall presentation
Identify defects, inconsistencies, or production issues and work closely with artisans and production teams to implement corrective measures
Ensure all products meet client requirements, organizational standards, and ethical production values

Production Support and Product Improvement

Support artisans and production teams in improving production methods, finishing techniques, and workflow efficiency
Assist in developing and maintaining quality control guidelines, checklists, and standard operating procedures for different crafts and products
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to artisans while maintaining a respectful, kind and supportive environment
Help ensure materials and fabrics used in production are properly sorted, stored, and utilized to minimize waste and maximize quality

Product Documentation and Inventory Coordination

Maintain accurate records of quality checks, rejected items, repairs, and production outcomes
Support inventory tracking and documentation of finished products, raw materials, and production supplies
Assist in preparing products for packaging, exhibitions, markets, customer orders, and external partnerships
Coordinate with administrative and production staff to ensure timely completion of orders and production schedules

Monitoring, Reporting and Documenting (20%)

Track recurring quality issues and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
Prepare simple reports and updates on production quality, completed orders, and operational challenges
Support the organization in maintaining ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible production practices

Profile

You are passionate about ethical production, sustainable livelihoods, and helping refugee women, survivors of gender-based violence, single mothers, widows, and marginalized communities through dignified work and artisanal craftsmanship. You believe that quality is not only about products, but also about the care, dignity and effort put into them by the hands of artisans.

You are meticulous, organized, and proactive, with a strong appreciation for handmade, batik and upcycled products.

Essential Selection Criteria:

Located in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor
Excellent cultural competence and social humility
Impeccable attention to detail
Commitment to learning with a willingness to receive and give constructive feedback
Any other character and prosocial skills, such as leadership, empathy, integrity, responsibility, and teamwork that would make you someone great to learn with, support and rely on to meet collective deliverables and goals in line with RehmanMade’s mission.
Experience or desire in working with sewing, cutting, crochet, embroidery, tailoring or handmade/upcycled products
Experience in a fast-paced, small and agile environment such as a startup, SME, or social enterprise.

Desired Skills:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality production standards.
Ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement in handmade and upcycled products
Skilled in organizing workflows, tracking inventory, and maintaining production documentation
Comfortable working collaboratively with artisans from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
Proactive and highly organized.
