About Your Mission đŸŒ±đŸŒ

We are seeking a committed and passionate woman researcher interested in exploring the impacts of climate-induced disasters on migration, livelihoods, displacement, and community resilience, particularly among vulnerable communities.

You will contribute to research and community engagement initiatives examining how climate-related disasters affect people's livelihoods, mobility, and access to opportunities. You will work closely with grassroots communities and stakeholders while supporting research coordination, documentation, and reporting.

This role involves frequent travel and transportation to different locations for fieldwork, community consultations, meetings, and project activities. You should be comfortable with a flexible schedule and travelling as required.

You will also have opportunities to participate in regional and international conferences, trainings, and events involving diplomats, delegates, and United Nations representatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

Research and Analysis (50%)

  • Conduct research on climate-induced disasters, migration, displacement, livelihoods, and community resilience.
  • Review relevant literature, collect data, and assist with qualitative and quantitative research activities.
  • Support the analysis of findings and contribute to research reports, briefs, and other publications.

Community Engagement and Fieldwork (20%)

  • Engage with grassroots communities, community-led organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct field visits, interviews, and community consultations across different locations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of community consultations, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Travel frequently for research activities, stakeholder meetings, and project-related engagements.

Research Coordination and Documentation (20%)

  • Assist with research planning, scheduling, coordination, and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of fieldwork, interviews, consultations, and research findings.
  • Prepare meeting notes, progress updates, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with team members and partners to ensure research activities are completed effectively and on schedule.

Representation and Capacity Building (10%)

  • Participate in regional trainings, conferences, and relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Represent RehmanMade at selected meetings, events, and international engagements.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and initiatives that strengthen community resilience and improve understanding of climate-induced migration and livelihoods.

Work Arrangement

  • 15 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.
  • Two remote working days and one on-site working day per week, with additional travel and fieldwork as required.
  • Opportunities to participate in regional and international trainings, conferences, and professional events.
  • Opportunities to engage with grassroots communities, researchers, international delegates, and representatives of the United Nations.

Profile

Requirements:

  • Woman under 35 years old.
  • Based in Malaysia
  • A strong interest in climate change, climate-induced disasters, migration, displacement, livelihoods, or related research areas.
  • Experience in grassroots initiatives and community engagement.
  • Excellent facilitation, management, and timekeeping skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to undertake frequent travel for fieldwork, community engagement, and project activities including international travel. (all costs covered)
  • Ability to manage a flexible work schedule and coordinate effectively with a small team.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for relevant trainings and professional engagements, where required.
  • Committed to the project for at least 18 months.
  • Strong interest in climate justice, migration, and community-led research.
  • Relevant academic, research, community engagement, or fieldwork experience is an advantage.
