Responsibilities

  • Awareness Raising Activities
  • Develop a plan and implement effective strategies in communications, public awareness and advocacy campaigns
  • Conduct IPC training, group learning sessions, community events, and recorida/bandillo and other campaign awareness activities for priority sectors/subgroups/ local officials and local leaders/influencers in the region
  • Conduct community mapping exercises to identify vulnerable groups, hard-to-reach communities, strategic communication, and mobilization delivery points and channels for messaging, advocacy, and public education.
  • Identify training needs/gaps of various groups and seek support from Project Manager (PM) to implement capacity-building activities to fill knowledge gaps and address deficiencies, if necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance to Project Officers in the region in implementing awareness-raising activities.
  • Monitor the progress of Project Officers in the island group in terms of public awareness campaigns/training and activities related to communications.
  • Work closely with AC and mobilizers in the preparation and distribution of informational and educational (IEC) materials.
  • Create a distribution plan of IECs in the assigned region to be carried out by the mobilizers.
  • Monitor the relevance and use of IEC materials and make specific recommendations on their adaptability to local reality.
  • Support the development of provincial/municipality-level action plans for campaigns and mop-ups targeting high-risk wards in the high-risk LGAs within the island groups.
  • Initiate virtual mobilization campaign/training through social media, radio, and telecommunication mediums for target sectors, local officials, and local leaders.
  • Support all required activities in the respective region to increase coverage for routine immunization.
  • Perform other project-related tasks as directed by the PM and MEAL and Reporting Officer, in collaboration with AC and Project Officers.
  • Provide support to Project Officers for procurement of IEC materials.
Profile

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced environment under a short-term engagement.

  • Bachelor’s degree holder with background in strategic/development communications, health promotion, social sciences or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a communications, public relations, or community mobilizer role.
  • Familiarity with the Expanded Program on Immunization, and other programs of the Department of Health.
  • Possessing exceptional writing skills and able to compose engaging and accurate content.
  • Experience in designing interesting and engaging communication products to create social and behavioral change.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak the local language.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or minimum health standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Having access to your own personal computer or laptop is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using computers and standard office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and online cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, etc.) in the compilation of health data.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Canva, as well as main social media channels, is an asset.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas, impart knowledge and teach communication skills.
  • Good analytical, negotiation, communication, and advocacy skills
