Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and help coordinate print and digital media content for offline and online use
  • Work with staff to harness stories from our work
  • Take, edit and share photographs and videos of events and org activities
  • Create short reels for Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Manage photo and video archive and help maintain the team’s knowledge management system
  • Help ensure compliance with UNK’s brand identity and publishing standards
  • Promote Roots of Health website and social media platforms in Filipino and English
  • Moderate audience engagement on social media
  • Run social media advertisements
  • Monitor social media metrics and facilitate evaluation and learning
  • Train staff and partners on how to use social media effectively
  • Update and promote website content
  • Assist in writing and pitching press releases and stories for local media
  • Help manage partnerships with, but not limited, to community and youth volunteers, grassroots organizations, media influencers, and suppliers
  • Keep up to date with current events that are relevant to Roots of Health
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned, that are well within the skills and physical capability of the role.
Profile

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Creative Thinking – the Communications Officer must be updated on media trends and create innovative in-person and digital campaigns
  • Good Writing Skills in English and Filipino – must have the ability to tell a story that inspires supporters to donate or get more involved
  • Photo/Video Editing Ability – Must have the ability to take photos and video content, then edit these to tell a story
  • Graphic Design – Able to create promotional graphics, and visually compelling posts, memes and slideshows
  • Creativity and productivity tools – Must be adept at using basic graphic design and photo and video editing software such as Canva, Capcut. Knowing Adobe Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask – must be able to work on many tasks at one time while maintaining quality of deliverables within deadlines
  • Collaborative – must have the ability to work with colleagues and partners in developing messaging and materials to support our work
  • Interested in people and in knowing their stories
  • Ability to understand target audiences, such as youth, parents, teachers, government partners, and donors
  • Willing to travel to remote areas on occasion
  • Detail oriented, enthusiastic, flexible and good-humored

Desired:

  • University degree in a related field (e.g. Communication, Development Communication, Broadcast Communication, Journalism, Multimedia Arts, or other media-related course)
  • Experience in marketing or advertising
  • Knowledgeable about reproductive health issues in the Philippines and the world, and monitor news and current affairs on a daily basis
  • HTML/coding experience
  • Design skills in Canva or Photoshop
  • Video editing skills in Capcut or other apps
