Position Overview: Save the Children Global Ventures (SCGV) is Save the Children’s impact investing and innovative finance platform, established in 2022 to mobilise high-impact capital and leverage Save the Children’s global delivery platform to solve some of the most critical problems facing children. To do so, our team oversees a portfolio of impact investment funds and utilises other innovative structures to catalyse private funders into deep-impact investment opportunities.

At present, SCGV advises two commercially structured impact funds: Save the Children Australia Impact Investment Fund (SCIF), established in 2019, and the Generation Empowerment Fund, focused on Sub-Saharan Africa, alongside SCGV’s Children’s Impact Multiplier Fund, a venture philanthropy vehicle. SCGV is now launching a third fund, the Asia Healthcare Fund, an early-stage healthcare fund focused on Southeast Asia and the Pacific. This new fund targets venture capital-level returns and seeks to generate clear and direct children’s impact, guided by SCGV’s proprietary Child-Lens Investment Framework.

Based in Southeast Asia, ideally in a country where SCGV will be overseeing investments (e.g., Indonesia, the Philippines or Vietnam), the Associate will support Save the Children’s impact investing activities, with a special focus on health and companies whose products and services generate deep impact for children. As a core part of a new and innovative team, the Associate will provide vital analytical and coordination support in building Save the Children’s reputation and networks in the impact investing ecosystem in Asia, helping to identify investment opportunities specifically in the healthcare, nutrition and AI/data sectors, supporting due diligence and contributing to the oversight of a robust investment portfolio.

Responsibilities:

Deal Origination & Execution

  • Support the expansion of SCGV’s healthcare investing platform across the APAC region.
  • Support the Asia Healthcare Fund’s Principal and future team across the end-to-end early-stage venture capital transaction process, including opportunity identification, transaction origination, due diligence, structuring, documentation, investment committee approval and closing the transaction.

Due Diligence & Analysis

  • Contribute to technical due diligence on companies offering primary care access, medical tech and device innovations, AI-based digital diagnostics, medical and nutritional supply chain and infrastructure, including desk-based research and data analysis.
  • Support commercial and operational due diligence, financial analysis and valuation studies on prospective venture capital investments.

Portfolio Management & Support

  • Support portfolio companies across the Asia Healthcare Fund, SCIF and the Multiplier Fund, helping founders access the vast resources that Save the Children’s network offers and assisting with impact measurement and reporting.
  • Assist with portfolio reviews and help continuously improve the portfolio management process.

Reporting & Governance

  • Draft commercial and impact reports and related materials for approval at Investment Committee and Board meetings for SCIF and the Asia Healthcare Fund.

Relationship Building & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Help build and maintain partnerships and relationships with external parties such as accelerators, co-investors and entrepreneurs, specifically but not limited to the health and AI sectors.
  • Support the team’s presence in the impact investing space, including preparation for key events and network-building activities.
