Job Description

Under the management of the SNV Project Manager/Deputy Project Manager, the Advisors will be based in Da Lat La office and responsible for supporting the inclusive value chains that benefit smallholder farmers and private sectors in the project area that cover coffee, orchards, plantations and inter-crops.

The individual advisor is expected to perform the following tasks working closely with project staffs (including Agrifood Sector Leader, National Project Manager, project consultants and team members as well as project partners and local level facilitators).

The assignment is expected to comprise the following tasks and responsibilities:,

  • Project Design & Development:
  • Organize and oversee the inclusive value-chain and market assessments and analyses to inform the design and development of the RESTORE project.
  • Design of appropriate project interventions and approaches, aligned with key government policies and programs to develop and strengthen value chains for key products of agroforestry systems and Climate-Smart Agriculture that benefit smallholders and private sectors (SMEs/cooperatives).
  • Project implementation and monitoring
  • Develop the work-plan and manage technical assistance with applying and adapting SNV approaches and tools.
  • Lead and manage consultant group in delivering the selecting of priority commodities and inclusive value chain and market assessments.
  • Developing detailed work plans and leading/managing key inclusive value-chain development project intervention activities.
  • Provide assistance to identify appropriate targets and related indicators as well as monitoring methods for project M&E
  • Provide capacity building in sustainable production, inclusive business, and traceability systems.
  • Develop training courses plan for the value chains (coffee and mixed-trees), business plan, and marketing.
  • Advise the businesses to obtain sustainable production certifications in various sectors (coffee, fruits, nuts, timber, etc..).
  • Counsel/recommend integrating the digital traceability system and/or other monitoring systems in SME operations to adapt the market-based value chains.
  • Development relationship and networking
  • Identify and engage key private sectors to build up the market-based value chains in project area.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships local governments/organisations (e.g. microfinance institutions, agri/rural finance institutions), smallholder farmers and relevant government agencies.
Profile

Qualifications

  • University degree in economics, international development, agriculture, business, or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience with international organizations or development organizations.
  • Experience with and expertise in relevant development approaches in agriculture: value chains, market-based value chains, pro-poor agriculture, others.
  • Experience working in the field of agriculture-forestry projects.
  • Experience in working with stakeholders at all levels (province, district, commune), and with mass organizations.
  • Experience in working with private sector (agribusiness, traders, food processors, other related)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Committed, responsible, creative, and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent communication (speaking and writing) skills in English and Vietnamese
  • Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email)
