Description of the mission

About the role

The Communications Officer will support the planning and implementation of the communications and knowledge management strategy of the Climate Finance for Vulnerable Communities in the Asia-Pacific (ICCAP) project, with a strong emphasis on multi-platform digital engagement across the Asia-Pacific region.

The role will focus on maximizing reach through region-specific social networks (including platforms dominant in the six countries of the project: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR), promoting project outputs, and coordinating communications activities among consortium partners. The position will support translating technical research, policy insights and project activities into clear, engaging and accessible content for diverse audiences, including policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, donors and the wider public. The position will work closely with the ICCAP project management team and collaborate with SEI Asia researchers, communications staff and partner organizations.

Main responsibilities

  1. Digital communications and online presence
  • Manage and update ICCAP digital platforms, including the ICCAP website, project page on sei.org, and region-specific social media channels such as Weixin/WeChat, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Support the development and execution of a social media strategy tailored to the Asia-Pacific digital landscape, using regional and country-relevant platforms.
  • Support the production and publishing of various content types – including blogs, vlogs, articles, podcasts, videos, news updates, and information about ICCAP events and activities – on the SEI and ICCAP websites.
  • Prepare and schedule digital communications materials, including social media posts, newsletters and promotional content optimized for mobile-first audiences.
  • Monitor digital engagement and analytics across diverse platforms with the support of ICCAP’s monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) team, and support reporting on communications performance, adjusting strategies based on insights from regional data.
  • Support and coordinate the development of user-centred, mobile-first graphical interfaces for ICCAP digital tools and platforms, ensuring accessibility, intuitive navigation and visual consistency across region-specific applications (e.g. WeChat mini-programs, WhatsApp-integrated tools, responsive web interfaces) to enhance engagement among Asia-Pacific audiences.

2. Promotion of project activities and outputs

  • Help to promote and share ICCAP research outputs, knowledge products and project activities, including news updates, announcements, and event highlights, through digital and media channels.
  • Support the project team in coordinating, drafting and editing communications materials, including blogs that translate research findings into practical insights through platform-specific social media content (e.g. LinkedIn articles, WeChat posts, Instagram captions).
  • Support the creation of short-form video content (e.g. reels, shorts, TikToks) and visual stories to increase engagement among younger and broader audiences.
  • Coordinate the development of visual communications materials (e.g. infographics, social media graphics, promotional materials) with designers and external vendors.
  • Ensure all communications outputs comply with SEI branding and donor visibility requirements.

3. Consortium communications coordination

  • Act as a coordination point for communications between SEI Asia and ICCAP consortium partners.
  • Coordinate updates and the collection of feedback to and from political partners in the six countries of the project: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Lao PDR, and to, and from, funders.
  • Collect and consolidate communications inputs from partners for project outputs and updates.
  • Maintain a tracker of ICCAP communications outputs, activities and events.
  • Preparation of communications updates for project reports, consortium meetings and donor reporting.

4. Event communications and knowledge management support

  • Coordinate communications planning and promotion for ICCAP events, workshops and learning exchanges.
  • Prepare event communications materials including event pages, invitations, promotional posts and announcements.
  • Support post-event communications, such as event summaries, highlights and dissemination of key messages and outputs.
  • Support the development of accessible knowledge products (such as articles, visual summaries, short briefs or narrative content) that communicate ICCAP insights to wider audiences.
