SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position will be responsible for leading the RMA Validation and Quality Team at GBFS.  The group’s core activities are focused on A) validation of RMA cases of field product failures processed by Technical Support Engineers, B) communication and escalation of validated cases to suppliers and C) performing statistical analysis to estimate failure rates over the entire product warranty period. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of reliability engineers and quality analysts to ensure timely completion of deliverables related to RMA validation, failure rate estimation programs or other critical duties that may be assigned, as appropriate. 
  • Establish requirements on field failure data collection, databases and statistical parameters.
  • Ensure on-time and accurate failure rate projection reports per product type. 
  • Define appropriate statistical models to be used for failure rate projection;  ensure accuracy of statistical reports prior to publication to internal departments and external firms. 
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams (Warranty, Finance, Fleet Analytics, Technical Support Engineering, etc.) for data collection and proper review of failure rate projections prior to publication to external entities such as accounting auditing firms. 
  • Support the Warranty Team in defining appropriate product warranty strategies to mitigate high retrofit cost impact. 
  • Present and justify failure rate projections to external auditing firms, as necessary. 
  • Drive the program for accurate and timely validation of RMA cases for critical solar products (e.g., solar panels, battery systems, microinverters, communication devices, etc.).
  • Liaise with Finance and Supply Chain teams for cost recovery of valid and approved RMA cases with suppliers. 
  • Work with suppliers, Supply Chain and Technical Support Engineering to establish or improve RMA requirements of suppliers. 
  • Establish a quality program that will validate how supplier requirements are translated into RMA case processing protocols with dealers and residential installation partners. 

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree in Engineering and 12+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 8+ years or equivalent combination of education and years of related experience.
  • At least 5 years solid experience working in technical support engineering in a call center or outsourced business process environment. 
  • Intensive experience in high-volume manufacturing or field applications engineering or quality/reliability engineering preferably dealing with solar panels, inverters and/or electro-mechanical products; at least 8 years of which in a Quality function.
  • In-depth experience in statistical analysis/modeling and usage of Statistical or  Reliability prediction software such as Reliasoft, Minitab, Relex or JMP. 
  • Diverse knowledge of multiple manufacturing processes (semiconductor assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, painting, etc.)
  • Intensive ability in understanding product drawings, specifications and correlating potential product failure modes to product design and manufacturing processes.   
  • Experience in validation protocols of RMA cases and effective communication and resolution of RMA cases with suppliers. 
  • Intensive experience in a highly matrixed organization with intensive cross-functional interaction. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); experience in high-volume data analytics and reporting by using Excel, Tableau,  Power BI or other tools. 
  • Results-driven and with good communication and presentation skills. 
  • Willing to work during North American shift.
  • Preferably with Six Sigma Certification 
  • Experience in process improvement programs or Kaizen initiatives. 
  • Proficient in customer portals, PLM, databases or ERP systems – Salesforce, Oracle, Arena, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Able to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

  • Candidate must be willing to work in Binan Laguna
  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work and reside in the Philippines.
  • Candidate must be willing to render overtime as business requires (weekends, US/PH holidays)
  • Candidate must be flexible to work on a night shift schedule supporting North America region.
  • Candidate will be on flexible work arrangement (combination of onsite and remote work) (if applicable depending on the nature of the job)
  • Tool of Trade: Laptop/Desktop, Extended Monitor, Headset (as needed)
