About The D. H. Chen Foundation

The D. H. Chen Foundation is a Hong Kong family philanthropic trust established in 1970 by Dr. Din Hwa Chen, the founder of Nan Fung Group, an ardent philanthropist and a devout Buddhist. Guided by Dr. Chen’s motto, “Care for others as well as you would care for yourself”, the Foundation aspires to build a compassionate society and promote compassion‑based values.

Through its five Institutes – Wellbeing, Education Excellence, Mindful Living, Impact Strategy, and Above and Beyond – and D’Ventures, its purpose-driven social venture established in 2026 and housed in its 14-storey D’Hub in Prince Edward, Kowloon_,_ the Foundation puts compassion into action. It steers, supports, and develops numerous innovative, impactful and sustainable initiatives with community partners to enrich lives and address emerging societal needs.

Purpose

The Financial Accountant executes day-to-day accounting operations and maintains accurate and timely financial records. The role is responsible for the month-end closing process and supports audit preparation and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Process day-to-day transactions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring correct coding and timely execution
Prepare and post journal entries (e.g. accruals and adjustments) and maintain clear supporting documentation for audit purposes
Complete the month-end closing process, including comprehensive bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data accuracy
Prepare timely month-end management accounts and consolidation schedules for management review and decision-making
Assist with year-end audit and tax compliance, including preparing audit schedules and supporting Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department (IRD) filings
Support the annual budgeting process and regular reporting by preparing financial templates, standard reports, and variance analysis
Monitor staff leave records and review expense claims in Workstem, ensuring all claims are valid and handle queries
Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems, and workflows to enhance data accuracy and efficiency
Perform any ad hoc assignments as assigned by the supervisor

Profile

Requirements/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline
Member of HKICPA/ACCA/CPA Australia or related professional qualifications
Minimum 6 years of relevant accounting experience
Good knowledge of HKFRS, audit, taxation, and regulatory requirements
Experience using ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Office; Knowledge of Excel Macro/VBA is a plus
Strong alignment with vision, mission and values of the Foundation
High professionalism and personal integrity, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Keen interest in leveraging AI tools to enhance workflows, streamline processes, and improve efficiency
A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills and good command in both English and Chinese
