About The Role
The Senior Fundraising Consultant for SEA plays a pivotal role in driving fundraising efforts in SEA. This position focuses on fundraising opportunities from SEA’s community of foundations, corporate social responsibility and sustainability teams, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), philanthropic families, and localized offices of bilateral funders and multilaterals who are increasingly prioritizing climate and energy access solutions.
With dual-reporting line to Global Energy Alliance's Vice President for Southeast Asia and the Chief of Partnerships and External Relations, Senior Fundraising Consultant for SEA will support Regional VP to develop SEA-specific engagement strategies, leverage local networks and cultural contexts, and align domestic and international donor interests with Global Energy Alliance's mission. The role requires deep understanding of SEA's philanthropic landscape, energy and climate, and has a demonstrated history of fundraising ($7M+ per year).
Key Responsibilities
SEA Fundraising Strategy Development
- Support SEA Fundraising Strategy: Support SEA Regional VP to design and execute Global Energy Alliance's SEA-focused philanthropic strategy targeting regional and local foundations, local offices of global foundations; local offices of multilateral and bilateral funders; Corporate partners with CSR/Sustainability portfolios; SEA HNWIs, family offices, and emerging philanthropists aligned with climate and energy access missions.
- Cultural Context & Localization: Create culturally appropriate engagement strategies that respect SEA philanthropic traditions, festival giving patterns, family decision-making processes, and preferences for direct impact visibility.
- Proposal Development: Work in partnership with global proposal manager to develop SEA-specific concept and proposal, ensuring alignment with local regulations, cultural context, and donor preferences.
Analytics, Market Intelligence & Pipeline Development
- Funder Mapping: Maintain a live database of SEA and international donors, CSR entities, family offices, and blended finance vehicles interested in clean energy.
- Trend Analysis: Track shifts in SEA and global philanthropy and advise Global Energy Alliance on positioning.
- Build SEA Donor Pipeline: Develop a robust pipeline of SEA’s donors through research, referrals, and engagement with platforms and regional HNWI networks
- Pipeline Management: Use CRM tools to track engagement lifecycle, conversion rates, and revenue forecasts.
Regional Integration
- Cross-Border Coordination: Coordinate between global philanthropic initiatives and SEA specific opportunities, facilitating international donor interest in SEA programs.
- Capacity Building: Mentor local team members on SEA donor engagement best practices, regulatory compliance in consultation with Global Energy Alliance's legal and operations team, and cultural competency in philanthropic relationships.
Fundraising Across Energy Transition Priorities
- Internal Coordination: Work with Global Energy Alliance's program leads to align fundraising narratives with technical and programmatic priorities.
- Sector-specific Pitches: Tailor donor engagement materials for energy transition, DRE, and BESS, aligning each with funder priorities.
Donor Stewardship & Reporting
- Funder Reporting: Develop, standardize, and deliver periodic donor reports (quarterly/biannual/annual), highlighting programmatic outcomes, financial utilization, impact metrics (emissions reduction, access, jobs), and donor attribution.
- Impact Narratives: Create donor-friendly case studies and success stories across DRE, BESS, and energy transition projects to strengthen funder confidence.
- Donor Compliance: Ensure adherence to donor reporting requirements, timelines, and audit requests.
