Company Description

About the Company:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and under direction of the Lead Engineer as required, the Project Engineer supports the execution triangle of Project Manager, Lead Engineer and Sourcing Project Leader to complete the company’s projects. This is achieved by delivering, as required for each project, detailed design documentation, technical material requisitions and evaluations, vendor data review and approval, internal or external consultant management in accordance with the project schedule. A Can-Do attitude, efficient decision making and close co-operation with all execution stakeholders including not only the execution triangle, but also the other departments such as Proposals and Process teams is required to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes the project delivery strategy and overcomes any obstacles to deliver the Project scope within budget and on-schedule.
  • Understands, identifies, and implements the technical requirements of the scope through the application of appropriate project specifications, local and international codes.
  • Takes appropriate action to alert the team to the risks and opportunities, both technical and commercial, to optimize the project outcome.
  • Generation and timely completion of the Master Document List content which includes both internal and vendor document review and approval in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provides day to day Engineering support, in support of Sourcing, Expediting, Plant and Piping Design as well as Manufacturing coordination.
  • Makes a valuable contribution to the technical, contractual, financial, and human resources aspects of the project execution.
  • Ensures that HSEQ and company technical best practices are implemented.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant Oilfield qualifications. Chartered Engineer status will be preferred. At least 5 years of experience in the process equipment and/or and engineered systems industry in compliance to the seniority of the position.

Required Skills:

  • Provide technical leadership for engineering work on relevant projects including:
  • Execute, coordinate & deliver technical work programs
  • Coordinate with Project Manager on forward resource needs
  • Review technical requirements of the project and prepare all design calculations, data sheets and work instructions in line with contractual commitments. Close out on all customer technical feedback comments
  • Ensure all design work produced internally and externally is checked for compliance with customer requirements and safety standards, resolve technical disputes
  • Review & resolve equipment vendor technical responses
  • Work with support departments (sales, proposals, manufacturing, financial) & specialists to optimize specifications, pricing, purchase and delivery of equipment and services
  • Raise purchase enquires, evaluate vendor bids, prepare and issue purchase orders to limit project risk and meet project budget, schedule and quality requirements
  • Expedite vendors for timely document submission against purchase order requirements
  • Make expediting / progress / quality / inspection visits to vendors identified as key to project success
  • Coordinate customer and third party inspections and factory acceptance tests
  • Expedite equipment delivery and review the quality of vendor documentation and physical parameters of good’s deliveries to ensure they meet specification
  • Ensure quality documents are issued to customers on schedule and Coordinate packing and shipping of completed goods & associated MDR(s)
  • Liaise with and provide advice to Piping & Layout Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Fabrication and Assembly on all technical aspects
  • Ensure all testing requirements are clearly defined and performed

Preferred Skills:

  • Understand the total project schedule to identify potential issues so there is no schedule slippage and man hour budgets are achieved
  • Utilize as required Veolia project management tools, procedures, manuals, forms and associated software including IFS, Integrum, ProjEx and Sharepoint.
  • Understanding of the fundamental process, mechanical and instrument requirements of the company’s process packages
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings
  • Understand the fundamentals of project management, budgeting and project scheduling
  • Have a basic understanding of key elements of contract law with respect to procurement activities
