Function

  • Provide a strategic communication leadership to advance WWF-Malaysia’s conservation vision, mission and goals in Sabah;
  • Lead in planning and implementation of high impact communication campaign (including advocacy campaign) and innovative stakeholder engagement towards creation of conservation champions in Sabah;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and network partners to elevate Sabah’s conservation success and the living landscape approach as an effective conservation model to the international forums;
  • Develop work plans with the Communication Unit to ensure SLP is effectively supported with the appropriate knowledge and expertise in strategic communication, advocacy and campaign through various approach and platforms.
Profile

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic communication leadership in the implementation of the SLP and 10-year strategy of WWF-Malaysia (2021-2030) in Sabah, in coordination with WWF-Malaysia’s Marketing and Communication Department.
  • Manages proactive, strategic media campaigns that communicate WWF-Malaysia’s contribution to conservation in Sabah and raise public awareness on environmental and conservation issues locally and globally;
  • Work with the Policy Unit to develop and implement an effective advocacy campaign to raise the visibility of environmental and conservation issues in Sabah;
  • Drive the creation of communications collateral including communications plans, intranet content/articles, executive speeches, presentations, newsletters, press releases, briefing materials within the Sabah Communication Team;
  • Events Strategy and Management - lead WWF-Malaysia’s events team in building and executing a major internal and external events strategy to support WWF-Malaysia’s objectives, including collaborating with stakeholders and network partners to elevate Sabah’s conservation success and the living landscape approach as an effective conservation model to the international forums;
  • Ensure WWF events in Sabah are leveraged internally and externally to build awareness, enhance reputation and engage Sabah WWF staff and external partners;
  • Serves as an internal thought leader in identifying latest trends and innovation in the area of strategic communications, including measuring impact of strategic communication strategy in Sabah.
