About the job

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial operations of the organisation, ensuring sound financial planning, management, and reporting. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health and sustainability of the NGO, enabling it to achieve its mission of promoting zero waste practices and sustainability.

Role & Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning and Budgeting: Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

2. Accounting and Financial Reporting: Oversee and manage daily financial operations, including ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, preparation of financial statements, and use of accounting software.

3. Payroll and Benefits Administration: Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

4. Grant Management: Oversee and manage the financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance.

5. Compliance and Audit Coordination: Plan and manage tax payments and filings, ensuring compliance with all tax regulations. Coordinate and manage external audits, and perform internal audits to check the accuracy and compliance of financial work.

6. Financial Analysis: Monitor the financial health of the organisation, providing regular financial analysis and reports to management.

7. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure the organisation’s financial stability.

8. Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, and develop and implement internal financial controls and procedures.

9. Support HR Functions: Advise on HR-related financial tasks such as payroll processing, benefits administration, and statutory requirements.

10. Payments and Collections: Compile payments, review and approve payments, and manage customer aging and collection of outstanding payments.

11. Communication, Pricing and Cost Management: Assist in pricing of services and manage expenses, external financial communications, including emails related to financial matters.

Profile

Skills/Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.

2. Minimum 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.

3. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Xero), strong understanding of accounting principles, and experience with grant management and reporting.

4. Thorough understanding of financial regulations and standards applicable to NGOs.
