Description of the mission

We’re looking for a Part-Time Researcher to assess the skills gaps and talent bottlenecks affecting the development and effectiveness of the Farmed Animal Advocacy (FAA) movement in the Philippines and Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

The Researcher will investigate the availability, demand, and development of relevant skills and talent across the movement, with particular attention to roles that are difficult to fill, specialized capabilities that are currently scarce, and systemic factors that constrain recruitment, development, and retention of qualified people. The research will distinguish between organization-specific capacity gaps and broader movement-level constraints that may require collective or sector-wide interventions.

  • Fee: PHP 30,000-45,000 [USD ~500-700] per month per month, subject to tax requirements in the Philippines
  • Contract: 3-month contract
  • Reports to: Program Officer
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
  • Application deadline: November 20, 2026, 23:59 GMT+8

Scope of Work:

  • Conduct a review based on organizational reports, assessments, and other relevant literature concerning the talents and skills within FAA groups in the Philippines.
  • Conduct focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (KIIs), and/or other-appropriate data-gathering activities with relevant stakeholders necessary to achieve the objectives of the research.
  • Map and analyze key shortages in skills/competencies within FAA groups
  • Present and synthesize findings in a final report.

Profile

  • A background on research-related disciplines.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to gather, analyze, synthesize, and interpret information from multiple sources, with a high standard of research integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to present research findings clearly, accurately, and accessibly.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to critically assess the quality, credibility, and limitations of information and evidence.
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity, openness to different perspectives, willingness to question assumptions, and commitment to following the evidence even when it challenges existing beliefs.
  • Ability to work independently, manage research tasks, and deliver outputs within agreed timelines.
