Role Purpose

The Community Outreach Manager will strengthen Breaking Silence’s connection with the communities it serves by leading initiatives that promote engagement, awareness, and survivor-centered support. They will oversee all aspects of outreach, from planning and engagement to partnership collaboration and sustained participation, ensuring every effort reflects Breaking Silence’s mission and creates meaningful impact.

This role serves as the link between programming and people by translating the organization’s advocacy goals into tangible community experiences. The ideal candidate is hands-on and collaborative, able to support event coordination, partner outreach, volunteer engagement, and community moderation as needed. Through this work, the Community Outreach Manager helps ensure that Breaking Silence’s outreach efforts remain consistent, responsive, and rooted in empathy and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and support outreach initiatives that strengthen Breaking Silence’s presence within local and online communities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, advocacy groups, and grassroots organizations.
  • Support the Head of Community Outreach in developing and executing outreach strategies and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate and promote events such as Thrive Gatherings, community workshops, and other outreach initiatives
  • Manage and moderate the The Hope Hub Facebook group to ensure a safe and supportive environment for members.
  • Recruit, onboard, and coordinate volunteers for outreach programs and events.
  • Track community engagement, collect feedback, and prepare reports to guide future outreach efforts.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities with empathy and respect.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage outreach activities, events, or volunteer programs.
  • Excellent coordination, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through on community initiatives.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of community development, advocacy, or nonprofit engagement is a plus.
  • Passion for gender equality, social justice, and Breaking Silence’s mission to end gender-based violence.
