Description of the mission

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a proactive, strategic, and detail-oriented Fundraiser to lead and expand our fundraising efforts, with a strong emphasis on grant writing, institutional fundraising, and foundation outreach. The ideal candidate will be passionate about our mission and experienced in building relationships with foundations, trusts, and other institutional donors. They will also play a key role in identifying and applying for fundraising support grants, including matching grant schemes and event-based funding opportunities, to amplify donor impact and extend our fundraising reach. This role also supports broader development activities such as individual giving campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Grants Management

  • Research, identify, and qualify prospective grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Prepare compelling, tailored grant proposals, applications, and reports to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant deliverables.
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data, impact metrics, and budgets for proposals and reports.

2. Foundation & Institutional Donor Outreach

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation officers and institutional funders.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to deepen engagement and increase giving.
  • Attend networking events, meetings, and webinars to connect with potential funders and stay abreast of funding trends.

3. General Fundraising & Development Support

  • Support or lead annual fundraising campaigns, major donor appeals, and fundraising events.
  • Contribute to donor communications, such as newsletters, impact reports, and acknowledgments.
  • Maintain accurate donor and grant records in the DMS database.
  • A strategic approach to leveraging grants to multiply donor impact.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising goals and performance metrics to leadership.
  • Any other duties related to the organization/department as assigned.

Profile

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or business development.
  • Proven track record of securing grants from foundations and/or government agencies.
  • Expertise in identifying and applying for grants that support fundraising activities.
  • Familiarity with government or foundation matching grant schemes.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful donor relationships.
  • Proficient in fundraising databases/CRMs
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
