Your Role
In this role you will work with companies, government agencies, civil societies and inter-governmental organisations to strengthen the implementation of collective actions in hu-man rights due diligence (HRDD), primarily in the palm oil sector in Pahang and Johor. Specific focus is placed on supporting upstream palm oil companies to address forced labour issues which include but not limited to ethical recruitment and child labour. You will also play a crucial role to build the capacities of companies to remediate human rights issues; and to integrate human rights into the context of dealers and independent smallholders. You will be expected to travel frequently within Malaysia. Full scope entails the following:
- Implement social and human rights projects within the Southern Central Forest Spine (SCFS) landscape
- Liaise with government agencies, civil societies and to support the partnership and en-gagement team to implement collective actions in the landscape
- Develop training materials related to forced labour, ethical recruitment, operational grievance mechanism and conduct training for companies
- Support technical team to conduct labour related assessments in the field
- Draft reports regularly and prepare power-point slide decks for quarterly webinar with funders
- Provide solutions in reducing and mitigating social and human rights risks facing deal-ers and independent smallholders communities including the workers.
