IESR is looking for a GIS Analyst. The person in this position will be part of the IESR’s analyst team and will contribute to the evidence-building and advocacy process of IESR. The person is responsible for conducting geospatial analysis to support various research projects, including renewable energy potential mapping and emissions mapping.

  • Conduct geospatial analysis to support IESR research and advocacy works (e.g. renewable energy mapping, emissions mapping, etc.)
  • Contribute to the writing/production of related knowledge products (i.e. research reports, policy briefs, webtools, infographics, slide decks, etc.)
  • Generate maps and visualizations of geospatial datasets for use in knowledge products
  • Collect, compile, and build geospatial database as basis and support for the research reports
Profile
  • Minimum Bachelor’s in the field of geography, geoscience, environmental science, engineering, or other relevant discipline from reputable universities with 2 years’ experience. Master’s degree or above is preferable.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in geospatial analysis using a range of GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with web-based maps and open-source maps
  • Understanding of climate, energy, and environmental issues is an advantage
  • Familiarity with spatial modelling under Phyton programming language is an advantage
  • Knowledge in the use of Machine Learning for geospatial analysis is an advantage
  • Experience in the use of geospatial analysis for renewable resources and/or emissions mapping is an advantage
  • Excellent written and oral knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia and English, including the ability to write Report/ technical/ briefing/ policy paper
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment
  • Willingness to learn and adaptability for new and relevant knowledge
  • Excellent time-management skills
