Description of the mission

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Smart City team as an intern. As a Smart City Intern at LeafIoT, you will participate in cutting-edge projects spanning urban forestry technology, renewable energy applications, IoT sensor deployment, and AI-driven environmental analytics. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to support the implementation, monitoring, and optimisation of next-generation solutions such as LiFY-T (smart tree health monitoring), LiFY-S (structural safety), and LeafiPlate (smart green-asset engagement). This role offers hands-on experience with real-world smart-city deployments across Hong Kong and international expansion regions, contributing to climate resilience, ESG innovation, and sustainable city development.

Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation, testing, and monitoring of smart tree health monitoring (LiFY-T) and smart public lighting management (SLMS/LiFY-S) technologies.
Support the collection, processing, and analysis of big data, including IoT sensor data, AI analytics, GIS information, and environmental insights.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members—including engineers, arborists, data analysts, and product specialists—on various smart-city and green-asset management projects.
Participate in meetings with government departments, research partners, and industry stakeholders to provide updates and contribute to project planning.
Potentially travel abroad to support business activities, exhibitions, or international project deployments.

Profile

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in engineering, environmental science, IT, data science, urban studies, or a related field.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Passionate about smart city technologies, urban forestry innovation, IoT systems, and environmental sustainability.
Experience with data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, Python, R, GIS tools, or similar) is an advantage.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to fast-paced project needs.
